Hey this is Ian Brill, the Earth Prime Jimmy Olsen, going from the mothership to Blog@ for some live WonderCon coverage. I caught up with BOOM! Studios head honcho Ross Richie to talk about what they’ve got coming up. You alert Blog@ readers know of Salvador by the Polish Brothers and the forthcoming Warhammer book Warhammer: Forge of War by Dan Abnett and Tommy Castillo. How about some new announcements?
I must start with some sad news. Hero Squared is coming to a close. Ross tells me this will be the last word for J.M. DeMatteis when it comes to the superhero genre. Don’t be too sad, fans; Ross assured me that there are more Planetary Brigade stories, that is Valor’s old team, to be told.
David DiGillio, who wrote the film Eight Below and is behind the forthcoming TV show Traveller, will be writing Northwind. Ross described this to me as the Global Warming Mad Max.”
BOOM! favorite Johanna Stokes will be writing Station, a “space noir.”
Mark Waid’s John Doe will be a three issue mini-series starting in July, which will be followed by a one-shot.
