If Rich Johnston is to be believed, it’s not just DC that’s looking to pull back on its line:
Dark Avengers is canceled as of May.
Looks like Captain Marvel will be gone, unless an upcoming Avengers Assemble mini-crossover can lift sales enough.
Winter Soldier is also for the chop by the summer.
None of these are especially surprising, considering the sales figures – and Winter Soldier‘s already having had a last-minute reprieve from the chopping block – but they are frustrating, if true. Here’s hoping for another change of heart/sales bump for the affected titles (Captain Marvel #9, in particular, should be picked up if you were interested in the book when it launched but unconvinced by the early issues. Perhaps it’s just me, but Felipe Andrade’s art is a far stronger fit for the book’s tone than Dexter Soy…).

Not reading any of those so good riddance. Hopefully the replacement titles are more to my taste.
If there are no replacements that’s also just as well, less glut on the market and more place for other books on the shelves.

Marvel is squeezing out their own product by double shipping and the $3.99 price. I think Winter Soldier and Dark Avengers are solid and fun to read, but something’s gotta give. I usually wait until I can get them for cheaper at a sale at my LCS or ebay.
As an example, I just picked up the current Age of Apocalypse series for around $10 on ebay and it’s great stuff, but it’s also getting cancelled!

X-Titles are the easiest to replace for them. Alonso has extreme bias for the x-line. Which is why I guess you will X-Treme X-Men brought back with a new creative team in the near future.

A Marvel book with a female lead not lasting…? The hell you say.

Never read the books, no hard feelings to see them go away. I agree, the $3.99 price is steep for crap. Marvel needs to look at the rest of the line and trim the fat.

Dark Avengers and Winter Soldier will be missed. I will keep my fingers crossed for a new Ghost rider or Punisher revamp to fill out the ol’ reading list.
I cannot, and will not pick up the regular Avengers comics nor X-men comics as they currntly are. They would strain boy my patience and wallet.

It’a strain to but any of the current Marvel line.
