Writer Peter David suffered a stroke while on vacation in Florida, according to his personal website. He announced the news on Sunday via the following notice:
We were on vacation in Florida when I lost control of the right side of my body. I cannot see properly and I cannot move my right arm or leg. We are currently getting the extent of the damage sorted out and will report as further details become clarified.
David is best known for his lengthy runs on The Incredible Hulk, Captain Marvel and X-Factor at Marvel; Young Justice, Supergirl and Aquaman at DC; the Spectacular Spider-Man story “The Death of Jean DeWolff;” creator-owned series including Fallen Angel; the Star Trek: New Frontier novel series and more. As somebody who has lost close relatives to strokes, I fully know how trying this time can be. My family member who died of a stroke actually used to bring me David’s X-Factor when he came home from work from time to time(he worked out of town) and I was enthralled by the bright colors, interesting personalities, and X-men characters I had never seen on the cartoon. The foil cover on issue 100 made it one of my prized possesions as a child. Peter David is one of the key people in making me love comics so my thoughts and hopes are with the David family this holiday season, and I wish a full recovery to Mr. David as soon as possible.

My best wishes for Mr David recovery and also for his wife and daughters. I really, really hope all the symptoms will fade away and he’ll be back on his feet in short notice. Take your time, take care, enjoy your family, and the rest it really doesn’t matter, but the comics and the characters and the fans will be waiting for your comeback.
