USA Today spoils another comics story – Except this time, it’s a story about comics, as it reports on the Top 100 Most Powerful People in Comics list that appears in the first issue of Avatar’s Bleeding Cool Magazine, launching tomorrow, and gives away the top 10 in its entirety. I won’t be equally cruel for those who don’t want to know the complete rankings, but I will give you the top three under the jump…According to Johnston’s listing (according to USA Today), it goes:
- Jim Lee
- Ike Perlmutter
- Robert Kirkman
Is Lee really more powerful than the man who could, if he so wished, fire everyone at Marvel…?

No, he is not.

He friggin’ well isn’t! Lee’s no more a sell-out than Todd MacFarlane

It’s an argument I’ve had.
But yes, I believe so. There’s lots to weigh up. Isaac Perlmutter is starting to change his focus from Marvel to Disney, and I believe he has also been weakened by the lawsuits. Jim Lee can put a book at new book at number one in the charts simply by drawing it. Which will happen with Man Of Steel #1. Will Isaac Perlmutter stop that? Would he want to?
This kind of thing is covered in the full list which goes into depth as to why people have the placing they do.
