ELFQUEST the Next Comic Book Movie?

November 6th, 2012
Author Lucas Siegel

Elfquest is going to the big screen, according to Variety. Wendy and Richard Pini’s comic book series kicked off in 1978, and has the unique distinction of having been published at one time by both Marvel Comics and DC Comics.

The tribe of elves will be brought to the big screen by Stephanie Thorpe and Paula Rhodes, who made a short film based on the series already entitled Elfquest: A Fan Imagining. Check it out below and see if you’ll like their interpretation.

While I normally completely approve of hot chicks in low cut tops running around in the woods, um, where are all the MALE CHARACTERS?? If Elfquest is going to be WaRPed, (No pun intended. OK, a little intended.), by the people making this flick into some proto-feminist, anti-men, hippie nonsense, I’m not interested.

    Not much dialogue…

  3. Scott Says:

Surely this is an April Fool’s joke delayed until November. That was a terrible little film. Bad actresses (they couldn’t convey any type of emotion), lack of male characters (isn’t Cutter the LEAD of “Elfquest”), bad lighting, and more. Completely ridiculous.

  4. shurwitt Says:

The distinction of being published by both Marvel and DC is not “unique” to Elfquest. See also Star Trek, Doc Savage, et al. An unusual distinction, sure, but not a unique one.

You have got to be kidding…

  6. Ivan_Mtl Says:

That was truly the worst trailer I have ever seen – and I am a huge fan of the original Elfquest comic book.

  7. James Moore Says:

Are you all dense? This is not a trailer for the movie. This is just a short treatment, “fan imagining”, depicting what the characters and scenes could look like. Nothing more. I think it looks great. I really like Auroree, Dewshine, and Timmain. I think this looks great and it’s got me excited.

  8. Ricardo Says:

Looks like the Vulcan Vogue calendar shot.

  9. Jason Says:

I don’t want to poop all over someone’s hard work, BUT…
That was pretty uniformly terrible. That inspired the creators to grant the rights to these fan filmmakers?! I’m not really an Elfquest fan, but this strikes me as the same overly enthusiastic misfire as that god-awful Batman/Alien/Predator fiasco that hit the internet at decade ago. Blech.

  10. El guapo Says:

Why is Leetah fat? Even with no dialogue….this looks horrible! Which doesn’t surprise me. Elfquest has been on a downward slide since Cry from Beyond!

  11. Crusader K Says:

Good grief…everyone…really…this was a FAN IMAGINING. F’r pity’s sake, LIGHTEN UP. For the fan production that it was, I thought the costumes, including hairstyles, were spot on. No, there wasn’t too much in the way of story, but c’mon! The images were cool! It really makes me miss Elfquest too! I have to go back and dig out my old Starblaze editions. WHY isn’t DC publishing these Archives anymore??

  13. Tue Sorensen Says:

It’s not too long ago that Wendy and Richard Pini announced that their movie pitch for ELFQUEST had been rejected because “it was too much like The Hobbit”. If that gives a bunch of fans the opportunity to do a longer fan movie, that’s cool. But it will be an amateur, low-budget movie, and will almost certainly never hit “the big screen”. Unless there is some kind of bonafide press statement to any other effect. Link, please? Anyone? Anyone?

  14. Tue Sorensen Says:

OK, this story is legit. An indie production has been greenlighted, to be produced by those fan-film makers. Plenty of links on the EQ Facebook page, for instance this: http://www.themarysue.com/elfquest-film-rights/

howd they get rob zombie to be the leader of the humans?

So this is going to be kind of like Arthur and the Minimoys…?

Hey, nice blog and thanks for the helpful content you put up. As a fellow blogger, I have one suggestion for you, that can make your job thousands of times easier and more effective. I am talking about a brand new software that has been developed, that rewrites articles, make them unique, and at the same time the output is fully human readable. The program’s called “WordAI”. Before I was using “the best spinner”, but once I tried the trial of WordAI, was really amazed , how could this be possible. Basically the program recognizes what each word means, how words interact with each other – who is the subject, which is the predicate, and picks synonyms and shuffles sentences based on the correct meaning of each words. This program really leaves “The best spinner” way behind, as I don’t need to rewrite and correct the grammar of all my sentences anymore.

Alright, hope you found my suggestion helpful for your blog

Thought I wanted an ElfQuest Movie untill I saw this. Good for a fan movie but shows the limits of what the elfs would look like on screen. I think a CGI treatment would be best for ElfQuest. Lack of the male Elfs really takes away from the trailer.

Hey, nice blog and thanks for the useful content you put up. As a fellow blogger, I can recommend you a site where you can purchase “laser” targeted unique visitors, for a pretty good price, so you get specific visitors that match your content, not just random people. It’s called Growstats. Many fortune 500 companies are using it, and from my personal experience, the investment pays off in time. I did increase my online sales significantly, because I was able to bring in thousands of visitors, specifically targeted for the stuffI sell. Also the quality traffic helped me increase my google rankings.

Alright, hope you found my suggestion helpful for your blog.

    Keep up the good work
