DC’s Senior Vice President of Sales, Bob Wayne, talks about the publisher’s September performance:
We’re pleased to have nine of the top 10 periodical comics with our #0’s and we think a year in, it does validate that there was continuing interest in the “New 52″ concept from DC so we’re pretty happy… Overall because of the book format stuff, I believe we’re up [in overall sales compared with September 2011].
I find it weirdly telling that, while Marvel’s most public face in terms of executives are its Editor-in-Chief and Executive Editor/SVP of Publishing, DC’s are its Co-Publisher and SVP of Sales, but that may just be me (DC really doesn’t like to promote its editors in the same way that Marvel does, does it?). Nevertheless: DC really has had quite the year, hasn’t it? It’ll be interesting to watch the charts over the next few months with Marvel NOW! and see the horse race between the two publishers…
