You have to wonder how DC feels about Wonder Woman’s appearance on the cover of the new Ms. Magazine. Obviously, it’s a great PR moment for the character and the publisher, and continues a historic connection between Ms and Wonder Woman, but it’s Wonder Woman in her classic outfit – which, at this point, is three costume changes ago – and drawn by Mike Allred, who’s working for Marvel these days. I wonder if there was any discussion of whether or not Cliff Chiang could offer up a modern-day WW for the cover? At least that way, the character might have looked like something other than a relic from years gone by…

She doesn’t look like a relic, Graeme me old mucker – she looks like Wonder Woman, which is more than the current version does.

I think it’s meant to be a shoutout to the first Ms cover with Diana. And the audience isn’t likely to be buying any comics anyway.

She DOES look like Wonder Woman, or certainly the Wonder Woman that most people are accustomed to seeing. You know, the one who is on the T-shirts and lunch boxes, and stuff. The one that most people will recognize.

In 1973 i was in 3rd grade and i called my teacher “miss regan,” and she was like, “no, it’s ‘ms. regan,’” and i was like, “bitch, what are you babbling about?” because i had never heard of “ms.” before. true story.

Maybe Ms. Magazine didn’t want to promote a Wonder Woman whose entire story is highly misogynistic like the current one? Maybe Ms. Magazine didn’t want a rage fiend that cuts off heads and arms with the greatest of ease (and pleasure) to represent their magazine? Maybe Ms. Magazine wanted to use a POSITIVE female image like the original Wonder Woman was and like Wonder Woman always was intended to be instead of this highly negative view DC is touting. After all, Ms. Magazine is a feminist magazine and using this current WW would undermine their entire concept? So yeah.. let’s use the CURRENT Wonder Woman, who mind you NO ONE outside of comic fans (who DC keeps reminding us is white men 18-30), would recognize as Wonder Woman? Maybe because there is nothing remotely iconic about this current Wonder Woman in anyway, not in story, concept, or costume? Ms. Magazine made the 100% right move and they knew what they were doing.

Does anyone else have a problem with him shitting on Mike Allred’s art?

Ugh. Can’t wrap my head around the opinion that the current WW is misogynist, and I’m one that’s NEVER difficult to convince about that stuff.

Whether or not the current WW is misogynist (and I do think it is), it’s certainly horrible garbage that attacks the very concept of Wonder Woman.
