I would like to think it’s the former. Nobody in their right mind would court the kind of fan anger that would come from empty teases, would they? Are Marvel’s Facebook PR people really so naive?

As I say, I can’t really confirm that it ran longer than the earlier release you guys would have seen, but it seems like t might have a few extra scenes and that’s maybe what you’ll get with the upcoming U.S. re-release.

I haven't been able to confirm this anywhere but Avengers opened 2 weeks ago here in Japan. I saw it last Friday and have since listened to a few podcast reviews from the U.S. and U.K. from back in May when it opened for you guys.

A couple of the reviews mentioned the running time as 2hrs 20-odd minutes.

Now here's the thing: I'm reasonably sure I was in that cinema for very close to 3 hours. (I didn't run my stopwatch to time the length of the movie) but the way Japanese cinemas operate is that they advertise the starting time of the movie -not the trailers- when the actual movie will begin.

So I checked the homepage for the cinema I went to and it lists Avengers as having a running time of 154 minutes that's about 11 minutes longer than the U.S. release as far as I know.

As I say, I can't really confirm that it ran longer than the earlier release you guys would have seen, but it seems like t might have a few extra scenes and that's maybe what you'll get with the upcoming U.S. re-release.

It did seem odd that the Japanese release date was delayed so long compared to the rest of the world.
