In a move sure to outrage faithful fans, DC has revealed the variant cover to Justice League #12, in the process also revealing the new romance between Superman and Wonder Woman. Talking to the magazine, JL writer Geoff Johns explained to Entertainment Weekly, “This is the new status quo,” before going on to say that the relationship “will have a seismic impact on all the heroes and villains in the DC universe.” As well as the fanbases of both characters, no doubt.
Me, I’m unconvinced; I don’t buy that this particular Power Couple really is the new status quo, if only because we have Trinity War coming up next year; I suspect we’ll see the two at odds as a result of that storyline, freeing the way for Lois to once again try to work her way into Clark’s affections (Did Jonathan Carroll ever make an appearance beyond Superman #1, by any chance?). Also, that cover – ignoring the bondage subtext (Note that Superman is tied up in Wonder Woman’s lasso) – It’s Action Comics #600 all over again!
And we all know how that turned out…
Exactly, Superman. Exactly.

If Geoff can write this convincingly, I will accept it. Lois is out of the picture, and sometimes this pairing can work (Kingdom Come).
But Alan Moore had the final word about this in “For the Man Who Has Everything”: too predictable.
(I like this more than the Batman and WW, though.)

This is all a lead up to Trinity War.
Trinity War will be the result of Batman and Wonder Woman having an affair. Superman simply didn’t ‘get’ WW’s take on love and goes crazy. WW will become pregnant and not know who the father really is. The three of them will appear on Maury Povich (sp?) and Maury will find out who the real father is via DNA test…And the REAL father will be reavealed to be…Neither or them! WW breaks down and reveals there could be a third person and out walks Mr. Mxyzptlk!

You know…they keep trying this pairing, and it just doesn’t work for me.
Lois Rules!

This isn’t going to work no matter how much DC force it. Bring back Lois and Clark and real DCU.

Why would Lois ever want to be with Superman after being with Wonder Woman? Lois would always have doubts about measuring up to the Amazonian Princess.
We need Wally West to fix this mess that is the DCnU!
Johns, Lee, and Didio need to be thrown into the Phantom Zone!

Why Does DC continue to destruct the legends of both Superman and Wonder Woman with stupid stunts like this. They do not work, and for God’s sake after all the years the fans waited for Supes and Lois to tie the knot. You go and retro it out of existence. That did not work for Marvels Spider-Man what the **** mad you thing it would work for DC. Supes and Lois are an established couple, entrenched in the iconic America and in the minds of the American People. you cannot just come in and change the status quo without repercussions. All for a stupid publicity stunt!
