It’s now official: Avengers 2 will be released May 1, 2015. Marvel Studios has apparently confirmed the rumored release date of the sequel to this summer’s massive movie smash, according to reports. As announced last week, the sequel will again be written and directed by Joss Whedon, presumably wrapping up his just-revealed three-year exclusive contract with the studio.
Something to ponder: If Avengers 2 is being released in May 2015, does that mean there’ll be a second Marvel movie that summer? And if so, what…?

Not likely, given no second film this year. On the other hand, why not something in the MCU, but tonally different, like Dr. Strange or Daredevil?

Spoiler Alert- Plot Details for Avengers 2 Just leaked:
It will be another pointless piece of trash that exists only to make money. More explosions. More plot holes. More hot chicks in catsuits. More contrived cameos. An after-credits scene that adds nothing to the movie yet cynically tries to hype up the inevitable third intallment. The producers are ambitiously describing it as “Transformers” meets “Transformers”.

Spoiler Alert – Plot Details for Middenface McNulty
It will be another pointless piece of trolling trash that exists only to bitch for the sake of bitching. More (non) Fan Boys complaining and crying on internet forums and blogs from their parents basement. Followed by an explosive You-Tube diatribe that adds nothing to promoting comic book fandom in any meaningful or positive way. The producesrs are ambitiously describing it as “Comic Book Guy” meets “Comic Book Guy”.

Wow, throwing around personal insults just because someone disagrees with your bad tastes in movies. I can tell you’re one of the superfans who watched Avengers multiple times in the theatres. Can I ask why people felt the need to watch the film a second time; I’d really like to know. It’s not like there were any nuances to be missed in the first viewing. Do the explosions any explodier the second time around? Does Scarlet’s outfit get any tighter? Do the armies of facelss CGI drones get any more compelling?
And you question my contribution to comic book fandom? The ones doing a disservice to the fandom are the ones proclaiming Avengers “the best comic book movie ever” as if comics can’t aspire to anything more than being inspiration for poorly scripted, CG-driven action movies. These kinds of claims devalue actual quality comic book movies such as Persepolis, The Dark Knight, V for Vendetta, A History of Violence, ect.

Dude, I replied the way I did b/c your post was full of snarky b.s. and it still is. You are still trashing anyone who liked the film with your oh so intelligent ‘I’m a real fanboy and you are not if you liked The Avengers’ rant.
Yeah, I liked Avengers. Is it perfect? No. But I did enjoy it quite a bit. I saw it ONCE. I have never seen ANY movie twice in theatres. However, I’ll buy the Blu ray. Got me there. Just because I and many others liked the Avengers doesn’t mean we can’t also enjoy A History of Violence, V for Vendetta, Road to Perdition, the Dark Knight and so on. The Avengers will share a spot in my movie collection with the films I just mentioned.
By the way, the after-credit scene tied DIRECTLY into the beginning of movie as it revealed who the big bad LOKI was ‘working’ for. How ‘terrible’ it is that Marvel has found a winning formula for building excitement for their next film…Sheesh…
Just b/c YOU didn’t like it does not mean it was not a good film. It was a FUN movie and is obviously tonally different and has a different target audience than films like A History of Violence. It in no way devalues those other films. Ok, maybe they should clarify it for you and call it the “best super hero comic book film ever” – Would that make it easier for you to deal with?
Did the MULTIPLE explosions in Dark Knight or V for Vendetta bother you? How about the Deus ex machina in the secret cell phone tracking/mapping super bat computer that Bruce had built without Fox knowing? Were you as ‘morally outraged’ over the girl on girl kissing scene in ‘V’? How about Michelle Pfiffer’s or Anne Hathaway’s catsuits??? Could THOSE get any tighter?
Seriously, did Joss Whedon piss in your cornflakes or something?

Stop trying to paint me as some kind of elitist. I like superhero movies as much as the next guy. The thing is, I don’t even think Avengers was one of the better movies in that subgenre. It’s not even as well written as many of the mid-quality superhero movies that comic fans rip on relentlessly like Spiderman 3, Ang Lee’s Hulk, or X-Men: The Last Stand. I wasn’t going into the theatre expecting a masterpiece, but Avengers didn’t even approach the complexity of a Brett Ratner movie. Even movies like Jonah Hex or Ghost Rider at least do a better job of avoiding plot holes than Avengers. ( Seriously, at the end of the movie when Iron Man is deep space, and he shuts off his rockets…he falls down. Inertia doesn’t keep him moving in the same direction. He falls down. “Down” through the directionless vacuum of deep space. Whedon- you truly are a genius.)

You painted YOURSELF as an elitist and are now you are trying to back pedal and still failing.
The Avengers was far better than the movies you referenced. X-3 gets a bad rap but Spider-Man 3 WAS awful and so was Ang Lee’s Hulk. However, everyone is entitled to an opionion, but the way you presented yours was and continues to be really jerky.
Your big beef is when Iron Man falls? Uhm, maybe that could be explained that because it was only a portal that Earth’s gravity was in still effect? Also, didn’t the bomb detonate PRIOR to IM falling? I can’t remember exactly but if so, maybe the force of the explosion caused IM to fall back through? But seriously, who cares? If that is your biggest gripe or best example of glaring plot hole (which that particular reference is arguably NOT an actual plot hole), I know there are bigger and better examples of glaring plot holes in most of the other movies you recently mentioned.
Still no response to my rebuttal on the ‘cynical’ after-credit cameo or about BW’s costume?
For real, did Catwoman’s catsuit? bother you? How about Jessica Alba in the FF costume? Or Storm and Jean in tight leather? I bet Mystique really had you fired up. C’mon did those outrage you? Or did it only bother you in the Avengers? And BTW, the only time Scar-Jo/BW showed even a hint of cleavage was when she was being interrogated and even then it was even then it was far less revealing an outfit than 99% of stuff you see in your typical movie.
Your lack of any real response to my rebuttals and your final comment “Whedon – you truly are a genius” just shows you ARE an elitist hater jerky fanboy.

It was obvious in the first five minutes that movie wasn’t interested in making any kind of sense. Hey, I’m Loki- I want to take over the world. I have a mind control staff and I’m standing right in front a guy who’s not only supreme commander of SHIELD, but has intimate knowledge and access to all of the various heroes who might threaten my plans. What do I do? Ignore that dude and mind control the guy with the archery skills instead!
I’m supposed to believe that the Iron Man “falling” thing made sense because he was carried by the force of the explosion? Yeah, that makes sense. The blast from the thermonuclear warhead that detonated less than 100 yards away from him carried him harmlessly to safety…
Outside of teasing comic book fans with the possibility of seeing Thanos in future sequels, what did the after credits scene really add to ‘Avengers’ as a film? “Hey, you know that nameless, faceless evil mastermind behind the scenes with no discernable motives who’s driving the entire plot of the movie? Well, this is what his face looks like.”
And I never said I was “outraged” by Black Widow’s costume. I just don’t think that she contributes much beyond being eye candy and providing a token female team member. For that matter I don’t have any problem with explosions or action set pieces as such. I just think that those elements should serve the story instead of the story being written as a thin framework to hang that stuff on.

Ummmm…I’m excited for it. I’m goofy for it! Just put the date in my new iPhone.
