The Dandy, the UK’s oldest children’s comic and home to cartoon strip characters including Desperate Dan, the cow-pie eating cowboy, is facing closure after 75 years… A spokeswoman for Dandy publisher DC Thomson confirmed that the closure of the print title was being considered as part of a review of the company’s magazine business, but indicated that characters such as Desperate Dan would continue to exist online.
I grew up reading The Dandy (and The Beano, too); seeing sales fall beneath 8,000 and the anthology’s cancellation on the books is an unhappy state of affairs indeed, particularly considering the cartoonists involved in the title these days (including Bear‘s Jamie Smart, who handles Desperate Dan these days…).

That would be a shame, though I hate the current Dan look. Where is this from, Graeme?
