I love all the anti morrison hating. For the folks that have such issue with his work how many have actually read his seminal work, the Invisibles? Or for that matter, read anything vertigo related? Morrison is one of comics' top talents who understands what these characters represent.

For all the haters, Death of the Family? Come on! Snyder this, Snyder that..This guy has written, what exactly? A batbook about some owls and some vampire that can go out in the sun, woo hoo!

Now talk about overrated. Snyder is so boring and slow moving you could skip every other issue and not miss a beat of what's going on. Honestly, his owl book was about 5 issues too long.

Damn Morrison for trying something new with the character? Please. Fresh batman, fresh Superman. What about Seven Soldiers? Amazing! Did ya'll not catch that one either?

Probably for the best.

Morrison's books aren't really burning up the charts. His Batman Inc sells about half that of Snyder's book. Action isn't even in the top 10. I can't imagine his billing rates would have gone down, so from an ROI perspective, there are much better choices out there for DC

I am glad to see Morrison departing DC Comics, I am not a fan of his work and he has ruined Batman for me for a long time. I still won't pick up Action Comics as I don't see the point in having two Superman books.

The problem with Superman comics is that they cannot capture the epic nature of the character in the way that movies can. DC came close in the Death of Superman arc way back when. I think Superman has been disappointing since the new 52 commenced.

Grant Morrison's characterisation of Superman in AC has been the best I've read in a long time. much better than the brooding emo punk everyone else has been putting in. He's been soulless in all the other iterations of him! Getting down to the roots of the character was the best thing they could've done. The idealism, and positiveness of AC superman is precisely what should guide the development of the character. So I'm tremendously sad to hear about him leaving. I hope the others who come on do well, but in my opinion, this is a big loss for DC.

No, they may may not be more talented. But I believe they know what they enjoy reading. They, like myself cannot stand his egotistical 'I write for the creme de la creme' stories. We3 was good, other than that (Final Crisis, Batman RIP) I've never read anything of his I enjoyed.

look at all the tough guys who are smart enough to know that Grant Morrison is actually rubbish. Presumably they themselves are far, far more talented than him, and would happily prove it, if it wasn't for the fact that

I liked Morrison's Batman stuff even though it was kind of difficult to understand, but I have not been impressed with Action Comics since the reboot. I look forward to the change, I just hope the next writer builds on what he's already established and goes from there.

this is entirely the fault of Editorial and not Morrison. Anyone who reads (or employs) Morrison knows what they are getting into (read: awesome but super secret and delayed awesome). so you either hire him and deal with that up front or you go with someone else.

face facts: the new 52 has been fraught with error and a distinct lack of stewardship from the very beginning. DC gets away with it because, ultimately, you hand them money for every mistake the make in story telling or the handling of talent.

so ... go you?

Its about freaking time. Morrison is a joke. I can't believe people out there think he is gods second son when it comes to writing comics. His stories make no sense. He should have been kicked off Action Comics a very long time ago. Its sad to see DC not knowing what to do with Superman, they should have the best writers and artist working on the Superman titles. I hate how no freaking artist can draw more than 2 issues before having some nobody do a fill in issue. Whatever happend to the days when you can go month after month and know the same artist was going to be doing the art. This is a step in the right direction.

His (New52)Superman is unreadable and NOT in any way in step with the character.
I partly blame Morrison for gunking up DC continuity so royally that they even needed a reboot to begin with. Instead of a New 52 reboot- they should have just sent Grant to rehab.

@Rick,
why would he be pissed off at Marvel for changing his work after he was gone? He's gotta realize as a work for hire that they're not his characters. You gotta admit though, his Magneto was terrible, I'm glad Marvel made that retcon.

While I've found the BATMAN INC. stuff hit and miss, with Superman there are virtually NO writers that could make me read this book since the relaunch. I blame Morrison and DC for ruining an icon. The new costume is atrocious and this guy is NOT Superman.

BTW, two writers that might make me read it - Warren Ellis (it'd be a fascinating book and I'm curious to see if he could do it) and Neil Gaiman (not bloody likely)

No great loss as far as I'm concerned. While I enjoyed his JLA run, I've not cared for much Morrison has done since his return to DC several years ago, primarily because it would appear no one edits his work. Jim Starlin's Death of the New Gods got messed over by Final Crisis. George Perez's Superman got messed over by Action Comics. Sure, his work might sell well, but other titles might sell well if they weren't kneecapped by Morrison's titles.

Sure, his work might sell well, but other titles might sell well if they weren’t kneecapped by Morrison’s titles.

At this point wouldn't Multiversity just be a glorified Elseworld's with the new 52 an all.

oh man best news ive heard in a while. Now I can read a coherent story. All we need now is Lobdell off Titans and I think DC can be good to go.

Yay!!! I'm loving this new DC under the close supervision of Warner Bros. So glad they're taking advice and put the 4 awful genies of the old DC Comics back into the bottle.

1. Dan Didio - Reduce his stupid story ideas and influence on the direction of the DC universe.

2. Geoff Johns - Reduce his influence and stranglehold on the DC universe with his idiotic, derivative and ridiculoud rainbow brite Green Lantern plots.

3. Jim Lee - Back to do what he does best, DRAW, instead of video game design or whatever dumb deal, Old DC Comics agreed to in order to lure him over, including having to buy his snorefest Wildstorm.

4. Grant Morrison - This hack has got to go. He's no genius. All he does is take old popular storylines and trying to make them his own. If he's so great, then how come he's always working on popular and sure-hit properties?? There are other younger and more talented people people out there, i.e., Scott Snyder, who's doing a fantastic work on Batman.

Bravo DC! It's a great idea to nullify those ridiculous tittles and promotions Didio, Johns and Lee got. This is a brand new day for a brand new company indeed!

If he never writes another book after this then I be happy. Sadly he mostly like going to go ruin wonder woman even further then the new 52 has and I don't want to think about Multiversity.

I haven't enjoyed anything Morrison has done since JLA. So, no great loss to me. Up Up and away Grant. I am sure your Santy Claus book will sell good numbers for Image.

Not complaining about the new 52 relaunch in general, but let's be honest - the relaunch really screwed up Morrison's major Batman arc. That really put a seasoned, precision Batman up against something he's never seen before. Now what carried over and what didn't? I don't blame him for wanting to finish up and move on. As far as Action Comics goes, I keep waiting for "that" moment to kick in and really make it epic but I have yet to see it. The whole death of Clark Kent angle has me intrigued, but we'll see how that works out.

I see Batman Inc continuing post Morrison (provided he doesn't kill all the characters).

I think it could actually fill the void left by JLI. Sure all the characters are Batman themed, but I kinda dig the idea of this group of international heros. They could do an arc in Africa with Batwing, an Arc in England with Knight and Squire, an arc in Australia with Dark Ranger, an arc in Japan with Batman of Japan. Then bring them all together for an uber arc.

I know this is kind of what Grant has alredy done, but I think there's enough there for characters to continue

@Rick

I wouldnt want him back anyway . Even if i liked part of his X-men run , and even if some of of his brillaint ideas helped shape the current x-men (mostly against his will) ... i dont see how any of the two brands and their universe should remain slaves of his dictates .

Coming into a unfinished franchise , being given carte blanche to throw everything you want away , and being angry when likewise the same is done after you , is an unwanted and quite not needed prima donna act .

I dont care how talented you are , if you wanna be the only one in control , create your own stuff and stay away from Dc or MArvel franchise that are supposed to exists decades after you are gone .
