Jeff Parker explains the thinking behind the new Red She-Hulk series:
Though you may only know my superhero stories, I am far from someone who thinks that genre IS comics, and I know that others may fit female readers more naturally. But I don’t think we should abandon trying, because despite conventional wisdom, many do want stories about powerful women in big action- did Buffy the Vampire Slayer teach us nothing? This gender does have daydreams about throwing cars around and flattening fools with a backhand swat. The superhero model appeals to something fundamental in us- that we feel, despite appearances, we have untapped power that could break out in the right circumstances.
The HULK myth goes further- and somewhat scarier- because it acknowledges our rage. The feeling that deep inside, whether from personal history or even wilder remnants still left from our ancestors, we harbor something devastating. Feelings we have to work at constantly because in the real world, letting that out doesn’t end well. But to be Hulk is to let that wave roll right out and wash away everything in your way. If you don’t think the ladies can relate to that, you haven’t talked to any lately.
I have to admit: I’m very much looking forward to this title.

No one is going to buy this title.

I only wish the Internet was around in the 1940′s so we could have been told “no one will buy a comic book about superheroes”, or the 1960′s “no one will buy a comic book about a guy with bug powers”, or (widely available in) the 1980′s “no one will buy a comic book with a naked blue guy in it.”

I wouldnt want you to buy it for the sake of whining anyway …

I’m buying it.
..and pretty much anything else Parker writes.

Wait…Mr. Parker acknowledges that some women actually LIKE Super hero comics? I’m…amazed. Thrilled and amazed.

Actually when today’s comics really glorify violence and bullying*, they show it being committed by women.
*Usually with a veneer of moral justification – as in “flattening fools with a backhand swat”.

The real question is “How tough is prison, Michael Vick?”
The answers: “Its pretty tough and I never knelt down to grab the soap.”

Let see where marvel goes wrong here. You replace less popular Hulk who series was close cancellation with a She-Hulk popular character she replacing. I mean Red Hulk. Not going to last. I give it six issues. Betty been so badly since she become RShulk it’s not funny. The story sounds horrible and the way character is not getting more appealing. Instead I don’t trying to make her anything like what she was or anything close to likable she-hulk but no. She just got to down dumb story lines it seems and crazy town.

What worse about betty I forget to mention is they can’t decide a way to write. Depends on who writing RShulk this month. Greg Pak probably did better towards the end but that was screwed up.

Can we all stop and give Supermutant a round of applause for the progress he’s making with the English language? A lot of you said he couldn’t learn it in nine days, but here he is commenting his face off!
