Graeme: my name is spelled "Lea Hernandez", just one "h".

I conserve "h's" so that others like the "Shellys", "Fhanks" and "Bahrks" of the world can have an "hh", too.

Is it really *that* depressing that people investing money over the Internet are now treating it more like they're actually investing money? We already have a way to share/express enthusiasm for an idea and it's called the Internet.

Kickstarter has been around long enough that I've had several instances of "Kickstarter's remorse": funding projects that then fall apart for various reasons, taking my minimal investment with it. Part of the real "problem" with Kickstarter is it can put a cult of personality ahead of a project that is put together with realistic goals. On the other hand, that is related to its greatest strength--allowing consumers to become investors in projects or creators they believe in.

Leah Hernandez's project looked okay, but my memory of her career to date is as someone whose projects came out late and looked rushed, and about which she usually responded with a mixture of entitlement and defensiveness. She's never struck me as professional and therefore she seems like a bad investment. I think other people felt the same in enough of a way that kept a bubble of support from growing.

Whether rightly or wrongly, perhaps we should look at the failure of The Garlicks to fully fund as a measure of Ms. Hernandez's place in the community, and not as a sign of people's hearts are growing ten times too small.
