Well it really all depends on who checked out the book. If the mother checked out the book then it is her fault, she should have opened it up and looked through it to see if it was appropriate.

On the other hand, if the kid checked it out then that is all on the library because they should have realized they were checking out an adults only book to a minor.

The mothers complaint is that the book shouldn’t have been allowed to be lent out to a kid, and there should be some sort of warning label – ignoring that it was stocked in the adult section, and the parent was required to be present when the book was loaned out.
It’s just a mother who slipped up blaming others for it – I don’t know how the library can be seen to have failed it’s duty of care.
