The surprise from the Diamond chart for May isn’t that Avengers vs. X-Men rules the roost, capturing the #1 and #2 spots with its double-shipping, but that it’s not doing better: I genuinely thought that the tie-ins would be charting higher than they seem to be, especially considering the competition: Are AvX books really being outsold by Detective Comics…? Guess that book’s much more of a hit than I’d thought…
(My guess is that the Batman Annual and relaunch of Batman Incorporated have simply pushed the tie-ins just outside the top 10 this month, and that they’ll show up to dominate #11-20 on the chart. But even so, considering the interest/excitement I’ve been seeing online for AvX, I genuinely expected to see far less DC in the top 10 this time around…)

I’ve seen very little genuine excitement in AvX. Seems like Night of the Owls has it beat.

My reaction was actually the opposite o the article. I’m surprised that fans are still hanging in with AVX. Seems like the same old marvel beat em up crossover. The tie ins are even more generic…

This is my first time posting… with the Avengers movie, I’ve been interested in reading comics again and have purchased every copy of Avengers vs. X-Men — but only on my iPad. I don’t know what to do with my old comics and don’t expect any of the comics today to be worth anything in resale (or to ever resale), so I’ve moved to iPad only. I wonder if there’s more like me and how sales charts track our behavior…

They don’t seem to release numbers for digital sales as much, I’m not really sure why. From what Ive read it does well but not quite as well as print (yet). I’m already starting to do a majority of my purchases digital as well. I’m taking advantage of a few 99 cent sales too to give titles I would never consider a shot in print. I’ve started donating some of my comics to goodwill and the salvation army, some people sell them through eBay too.
