Oh, Axel Alonso, you big tease… From his Axel-in-Charge column on CBR:
I can’t recall anyone coming to us with an interest in those UK characters. That said, I am interested in some of those characters – Death’s Head, for instance. Be cool to see what Warren Ellis or Garth Ennis would do with him. I’m also intrigued by the 2099 Universe – thought at this point, maybe it needs to be 3099. In the current market, either would be a challenge, but given the amazing sales of “Avengers Vs. X-Men,” and the fact that we’re entering into another daring period for publishing, who knows what we might attempt?
Not only is the idea of a “another daring period for publishing” at Marvel an interesting tease in and of itself – Does this mean that Alonso would consider the current period conservative? – but specifically mentioning Death’s Head and 2099 by name is either a great red herring (Personally, I think 2099 is kind of burnt out these days unless it’s a massive reworking; wasn’t Timestorm a relative failure fairly recently…?) or a surprise hint of things to come.

I would think the success of “Avengers Vs. X-Men” would have the exact opposite effect. I would expect Marvel (and DC) to focus solely on recognizable brands and do things like, say, rename Thunderbolts Dark Avengers so it has Avengers in the title.

I could go for another Death’s Head series, as long as he is the Death’s Head from S.W.O.R.D.
2099 was a love letter to cyberpunk, but cyberpunk has been absorbed into popular culture so much that it is almost indistinct. I don’t see any edgy new kind of genre literature that you could jump onto for the same effect.

Maybe they’ll combine both into Marvel UK 3099.

Warren Ellis writing Death’s Head would be pretty cool. Though Simon Furman or Kieron Gillen would be nice to see, too. As long as it’s original style DH.

I think a 3099 book with a focus on one charecter being introduced to new version’s of other charater’s well still focusing on one hero.would be very intersting and with the right writer could be a great book.

Give Death’s Head to Simon Furman at IDW. He knows how to write it. Very unsure you’re current staff, Axl, is not up to par.

Hasbro and Marvel need to do am even IP swap: Death’s Head for Rom. Neither company used the character they own, while spend lots of effort to replace the missing character they don’t own. Rom without his suit. Lockdown from the TF cartoons and toyline is essentially Death’s Head minus the speech pattern. IDW already has the rights to reprint the Transformers comics with Death’s Head. Be simple enough to add him to James Roberts’ book or Furman’s Marvel TF revival.
