On the newly-unveiled Facebook fanpage for next year’s Man of Steel movie, Warner Bros has released the first look at the official logo for the movie:
My first thought? “You’d think Superman could’ve saved the day with their lighting department.” But outside of the dimness, it’s just the S-shield, and I admit to feeling a little disappointed by the similarity to the campaign promoting Superman Returns. But what do you think?

Kind of dull, yeah. I was expecting someone to bust through it, Old Spice ad style.

This is how I visualized the “serpent in diamond” shield in that “Last Days of Krypton” book. Wonder if that’s what they’re going for.

Eh. So eh it’s barely worthy of a reaction.

I’m fine with the logo.
I’m more concerned that this will be yet ANOTHER origin story and they are bringing out General Zod AGAIN. Two new films, same two ‘old’ villains. I know a lot of younger viewers may not recall the earlier films, but sheesh, couldn’t they have brought in someone NEW?
I don’t know, maybe they could do an origin story during the opening credits and just start the movie with the premise that Superman is the world’s greatest and/or most powerful superhero and go from there?
How EPIC could a battle with BRAINIAC be? Have Lex Luthor somehow get his hands on Supe’s DNA and create a ‘Frankenstein’ version of Superman (BIZARRO)? How about setting up MONGUL or DARKSEID?
As always, I will reserve final judgement until I see the film. Like with all superhero movies, I wish it the best and I will be there to see it opening weekend. I just hope it is good…

Looks like the Superman version of the Batman Begins rusted metal Bat-logo banner and about what I’d expect from this movie.

way to get two “?” in one headline

I think it looks fine. Of course I have heard some nerd-rage already . . . but it is unfounded, in my opinion. I like the fact that this rendition of Superman will be bulked up a bit, and I like that the S-shield is nice and large on Supes chest.

It reminds me of the Fleischer S-Shield.

I like the logo its not to overwhelmingly detailed its just nice and simple but thats just my opinion.

I dig it, the curves add an elegant edge to the design and guide the eye around the emblem very nicely. It has a hard edged look to it, yet retains a “calm” feeling with the added design elements.

I agree with dbishop, very Fleischer and very ‘Earth 2′. I like it. Speaking as someone whose first trip to the cinema was ‘Superman: The Movie’ I welcome the change. We need to move on.

Hopefully NO LEX LUTHOR. The power of baldness and being a real big meanie is not impressive. Hopefully they’ll settle on an actual amped-up villain.

S Shield meets Mortal Kombat Dragon.

It seems after Avengers, a ‘realistic’ interpretation of Superman may not be what the fans want. It worked for Batman, but Supes is a very different character, hell Batman was designed to BE the opposite of Supes from the get go.
I for one would love to see Superman done properly on film, that is BIGGER than life, make everything EPIC!!!
Less time trying to humanize him and more time making him do what he does best. Joss Whedon knew that was the key to The Hulk in Avengers and it paid off, everyone loves Hulk in that despite the characters last 2 movies being rather ‘meh’
Also I’m kind of over the whole ‘Origin’ thing, he’s been such a large part of pop culture for more than 70 years now, seriously if you do not know who Superman is by now, then this movie probably isn’t for you.
Having said that, I am looking forward to this film and will decide when I see it if it was good or not. Also a I’m HUGE Superman fan.
