Hey, look! It’s a new poster for Marvel’s The Avengers, as debuted on Marvel.com.
Notable for actually featuring the Hulk (as opposed to earlier teaser images, which featured Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner), my favorite thing about this poster is Captain America, just standing around, looking a little out-of-it, while everyone else seems on high alert for incoming disaster from each and every angle. Snap out of it, Cap! The world needs you!

ugh, that is a photoshop disaster. And really, it’s close to decent, but just so far off…

Agree with ThePants, it looks like a first semester graphic design student put that together. You’d think they would have come up with something that does NOT look like fan art for such a high profile offering. It doesn’t look like they are even together in that space, just a bunch of random photos of each character pasted onto the background.

Why are they having so much trouble making a good Avengers poster? It’s not like there aren’t HUNDREDS of Avengers covers to go look at for inspiration….

Ugh…it looks like someone screamed, “SQUIRREL…!!!!”

Look at what’s going on around them. There’s a plane with engine on fire seemingly headed right towards them, a building is exploding right behind Captain America, but they’re all staring off at something else, taking the time to strike manly poses. Even Black Widow.

the photoshop is just horrible the light cast on the charecters is not the same hawkeye, iron man, captain and thor seems so out of place…just horrible, but the thing i liked was the “little tower” on the background…is that the avengers tower? looks nice!

It’s not as bad as all that. It looks like a movie poster.
February 28th, 2012 at 12:18 pm
Remember the days when Drew Struzan or one of his peers would DRAW an amazing piece of art to publicize a movie. Sigh!

god damn actors with their face time, where the masks at ? so much for secret identities

So Iron Man goes into battle without his helmet now? I guess with all the high profile teammates he doesn’t need to talk to Jarvis any more. Yeah, yeah, I know. It’s just a poster, but it’s not a very good one at that. And while I’m playing the role of the whiny fanboy, I think Joss’ name should have been bigger!

Hulk is WAY too tall. He’s set off in the distance, so he should be smaller. I know he’s taller than the other folks in the poster, but if he were to come to the foreground at the size relation he is now, he’d be 10 to 12 feet tall or even taller. And I agree the lighting, placement, poses and everything else is off.
Too bad.

‘Avengers’ starring Robert Downey Jnr and some other people! They should have just called it ‘Iron Man Team-Up’ because that’s what the poster is advertising.

what i i find interesting is alot of these ads for the movie depicts Tony Stark/Iron Man as the main guy (largest, or up front in main focus) but its been quoted by joss Wheadon that the main character is capt. America as it threw his eyes of what is going on in our modern time. funny, since he is the 2nd smallest character in this poster.

Wow, newsarama is just full of annoying trolls who hate everything, huh? Its a freaking movie poster, not a piece featured in the Whitney Biennial. It should look overwrought and “awesome,” which it totally does, so calm the &#$% down!
February 28th, 2012 at 4:08 pm
What’s the matter with you all? It looks just like a Marvel cover – unimaginatively posed, bad composition and poorly lit.
February 28th, 2012 at 5:09 pm
The perspective is all out of whack, unless Cap and the Hulk have been swigging Pym particles or something.
And why is Captain America in the background, while Hawkeye is in the foreground? Isn’t Cap supposed to be the A-lister?
Okay, RDJ is up-front and center–that I can understand. I guess Thor’s movie came in second, so he’s prominent. And it’s kind of a Hollywood law that every movie has to have at least one black in it, and one woman, otherwise they could just focus on the Big Four. But Hawkeye?! Really? Is he that much of a selling point, or are they hoping people will confuse it with Blade or the Matrix? Maybe it looks too much like the circus unless a few of them are dressed in black…?

Am I the only one who noticed Fury’s “pimp lean”?
February 28th, 2012 at 6:22 pm
look for more about real Scarlett by typing Scarlett Johansson clone in Google search bar and you would see much more then in The Island movie..
February 28th, 2012 at 8:12 pm
I would so much prefer it if the characters with masks actually had them ON in the main posters.. Sigh..
February 28th, 2012 at 8:57 pm
It’s not about hating- this is a genuinely HORRIBLE poster. As a designer this is appalling. They must have paid an intern to do this. Not sure what is wrong with the Marvel art department or why they think the fans are so dumb that they need to have everyone with masks off. Oh well- it’s very typical.
Bad lighting, bad composition, horrible poses that make no sense, horrible perspective…why is the Hulk a giant? Can they have a more boring Cap pose? I don’t even have the energy to go on…
February 28th, 2012 at 9:20 pm
I am (still) totally looking forward to this movie but I really hate this poster.
February 29th, 2012 at 2:46 am
I could do a better job and that’s a fact and the saddest thing is they could have looked at past avengers covers for composition
February 29th, 2012 at 6:02 am
Well, it could be worse! Black Widow could have her spine turned 180º!
February 29th, 2012 at 7:25 am
What I wouldn’t give for a STERANKO movie poster for this film!
February 29th, 2012 at 9:56 am
It’s clear, the movie should be titled RDJ and the Avengers.. RDJ far exceeds the acting requirements of this movie.. Only RDJ has the acting depth and breadth to CARRY this movie and Pwn the scenes (like in all his movies).. Even Scar Jo and her typecast sex-kitten roles don’t compare.. This is RDJ and The Avengers, the poster makes it clear.. (BTW RDJ = Robert Downey Jr)
