Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a release date. Fox has announced a July 23, 2013 release date for The Wolverine, the second solo movie for cinema’s favorite X-Man, directed by Girl, Interrupted and Walk The Line‘s James Mangold and starring – of course – Hugh Jackman. As the Hollywood Reporter notes, this means that it’s opening the same day as the Dirty Dancing remake, so feel free to start working on your jokes about “nobody puts Wolverine in a corner” right now. This date also make The Wolverine the third superhero movie of the year; Iron Man 3 is scheduled to open on May 3, with DC’s Superman reboot Man of Steel opening June 14.

I have to agree with Sticky Boy. He speaks wise and sage-like words. Unfortunately no one will pay any attention to him and we’ll be left with another nail in the coffin of a once great character. Ah well, there’s always Green Lantern 2 to look forward to. I know right!

I look forward to this, unlikely many, I didn’t hate WOLVERINE ORIGINS (I actually thought, adn can’t believe I am typing this, Will-I-Am did a good Wraith and Gambit was good too) but more Hugh Jackman Wolverine, and focusing on his time in Japan, is far from a bad thing! (I just hope Silver Samaurai isn’t made too camp)

I actually enjoyed Origins. It wasn’t perfect by any means, but it was fun and that’s all I want from these movies. Jackman nails the role – I’m looking forward to this.

Sounds cool and all but July 23 is my wedding anniversary and I just got married in 2011. That makes this release date a tuesday since leap year is this year. I wonder if it is supposed to be the 26th.

Get Frank Millar to write the script. Someone who believes in what’s he’s doing.

Frank may believe in himself but after the Spawn Batman oneshot,Batman the Dark Knight Returns yet again cash grab, Batman and Robin limited series, and the Spirit movie I don’t think he is the writer he used to be decades ago.

THE Wolverine? I’m reminded for some reason of an episode of Freakazoid! that was spoofing 60s suspense movies, and the title of both the film and the episode was The Freakazoid.

To Rod Lee: You’re so full of it, man. Frank doesn’t have to placate to any fanboy’s expectations. He has made a solid rep, and I love his work, especially “Holy Terror”.

Jackman’s devotion to the role is what I’d want to see from any actor who takes on one of these characters. Origin’s wasn’t perfect, but it was fun… until that crap they pulled with Deadpool lol. Hopefully they’ll go for something more graphic and violent this time around, maybe we’ll see blood on the claws.

Too bad they couldn’t involve Darren Aronofsky. Wonder why he still got pushed out. He needs to direct the next one. I hope this one is rated R. They need to go for the gusto here and make an adult Wolverine adventure for once.
