Looks like the lack of Generation Hope in the recent Marvel solicits wasn’t a one-time thing, as writer James Asmus confirms the book’s cancellation in an interview over at CBR:
Yes, the book is ending with issue #17. I will say (as I did a month ago) that these were the five issues I planned from the beginning. You can read all the old interviews where I promised to get to the betrayal, and I knew I had to do it before “Avengers vs. X-Men.” The book was already under 20K copies when I took over, so while I figured there was a chance to tie into “AvX,” the way the market and the event developed, a “Generation Hope” tie-in doesn’t make sense… When Marvel first asked me to hop on the book last summer, I was told that they wanted me to take the book up to “AvX”. Sales were already below the 20K copy mark, so there was the expectation that unless a market-miracle happened, the book probably wouldn’t keep going after the first five issues.
I guess the question now becomes “Just how much of the remainder of the book’s run is going to be run-up to Avengers vs. X-Men?” Maybe Avengers: X-Sanction isn’t the only prelude book for that event after all…

Too bad about a good comic, but good riddance to Hope herself.

Sadly the market being what is it needs to have fewer books so it can correct itself and then when the market is growing again increase the amount of books available. Right now with so many titles they are crowding out themselves with the smaller readership.

i just have to wonder where the other Lights will go. will they head to the JG School with Wolverine, or will they be scattered throughout the titles…Since Hope is on Cyclops team, would they really want to stay there? and the question of Sabastian Shaw is ever present…does Cyclops really need ANOTHER former HellFire club member on his team? ( Emma, Magneto to say the least ..)i guess we will alll see then..im just a bit …concerned about what exactly is Cyclops reasonings and if at all mind controlled from Emma…i mean thats POSSIBLE…right?

@Jane A – What makes you think Hope is going anywhere? She is at the center of AvX. Plus is still a part of Cyclops’ ‘Extinction Team’ in Uncanny. Once AvX is over maybe Hope will turn into a breakout character like Layla Miller, if Hope does not turnout to be Jean Grey reincarnated.

I think that it would be better for Hope’s storyline to continue in the main X-Men series’ rather than a separate book, anyway.

Good riddance to dumb idea and dumbs mutants (including akira ripoff).

I still don’t see what the point of this book was. Why didn’t they just put the new mutants into…NEW MUTANTS!!!

Pretty much figured this would get merged back into the regular X-series eventually. It was an Meh series, okay but still meh.

As much as I love this book, it would be nice if they did a lot more trimming to the X-titles. I believe that they could tell the same stories that they tell in separate books under one title. Trying to read the dozen or so X-books is just getting really costly.

Isn’t it obvious: Marvel just doesn’t like comics to spotlight or star female characters. /sarc

If this were a DC comic, that accusation would have already been leveled, and taken seriously by internet readers.

I could say the same for you, douchebag.
This series was just finding its footing, and really seemed on the verge of actually developing some characters that had staying potential and not just cardboard mutant cutouts.
I trimmed my pull list to under 20 at New Years, looks like I just lost another one.

I don’t get all the Hope hatred.
I’m rooting for Deadpool & Hope miniseries, where Deadpool does the old mentor “mr. Miyagi” shtick.
I loved Cable & Deadpool, and Hope is the perfect anti-Cable.
