Should have see this coming: CW orders “Arrow” pilot.

Looks like the former house of Smallville is looking for another bullseye.

Deadline is reporting that the CW is finalizing a deal for a Green Arrow pilot, presently called Arrow. Written and executive produced by Green Lantern co-writers Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim, and Fringe and Vampire Diaries writer, Andrew Kreisberg. This would take place outside comic canon and focus much on it’s own mythology, though I’m sure with nods and certain details from the Green Arrow comic origin.

Now take into consideration that there is still a Deadman pilot in the works and developing a series based on a DC property to succeed the departed Smallville is a priority for the CW this development season. No word yet if Justin Hartley will sling the bow and arrow again this round or if they are looking to start from beginning and start fresh.

So readers, what do you think of this matter? With NBC passing on Wonder Woman, and Smallville gone, is there room for the Emerald Archer on your tv screens?

Whatever they name the show, I do hope that the CW is smart enough to build on the 10-year mythology of Smallville and keep THAT version of Oliver Queen, if not that same actor. Like the show or not, name me another comic book show that lasted in prime-time for ten years… It has a following, and so does Justin Hartley as GA. Build on that and then go do your own thing with the show.

  2. Sallyp Says:

Well, since Justin Hartley was the only reason that I even watched Smallville, I would be quite happy, if they brought him back.

  3. Ultra8 Says:

I’d probably watch it but DC and network tv are notorious for saying their going to make a show and never following through on it, so I’ll wait and see.

  4. Ryan Says:

Justin Hartley better be in it! The last couple of seasons of smallville were… meh still good but not great. The lana character should of been gone after the second season. I hope Justin Hartley is in it. (Y)

  5. Jeff Says:

Don’t give us reboot crap. Good actor, great costume. Give us what we want.

  6. JanArrah Says:

Yes, Justin Hartley is incredibly sexy. It’d be cool to have him in a series especially more shirtless OR if they’re going to do a new series, DO A SUPERHERO SERIES. Stop this 90210 who is dating whom crap.. Smallville lasted for 10 years not because it was a superhero series (it really had nothing to do with that at all), but because it was a teenage soap opera.. and for series like that? 10 years is pretty normal. Sure, Superhero series don’t last 10 years.. but Smallville had nothing to do with being a superhero.. Superman never even appears in it.. They spend season after season after season on the Clark/Lois/Lana/Chloe/Lex love triangle crap with a 10 second “krypto freak” thrown in there every now and then. They spent at least an entire series (when all is said in done) in the hospital in Smallville.. SERIOUSLY!

I hope they do a Green Arrow series, I am a DC Universe Fan. But I always liked the Comic Book version Green Arrow, so if they do something like that, I am sure I will follow the show. Also, it will be great if the do a crossover once a while with some smallville characters like Superman(Tom Welling).

I would like to see a Batman series instead.

  9. Jorge Gulías Merelles Says:

I may not like Smallville, but I have to agree with Michael. It has a HUGE following and they should respect that.

  10. Abe Says:

I love the character, have for years…in the comics. Not too “crazy” about the SMALLVILLE versions of any of DC’s heroes. I’m sure it will be somewhat successful as there is an audience for comic characters on TV and in movies…but it would help if they stayed a bit truer to the original….imho…

  11. Pat Abbott Says:

Hell yes! If that means cameo’s of Superman (Welling)

  12. Sam Says:

not really.. I do like GA but not as much as the other superheroes..He is not that popular!

  13. Cameron Tabler Says:

I see you were talking about Deadman, One of my favorite characters. Even though not as well known he is a perfect supernatural hero. Hope they make it I can’t wait.

  14. Mossey Says:

I’d like to see a Green Arrow series but only if they do a real, actionpacked, comic accurate, superhero series. I have no interest in
another angst-ridden teen soap opera. Keeping in tune with the Smallville character is fine, as long as they pump up the action. Green
Arrow should be more Jack Bauer and less Jack Wagner.

  15. Stephen Says:

Why didn’t the CW try picking up the Wonder Woman show? There are a lot of great superhero’s out there, not sure how the Green Arrow would work. If they want another teen drama series with a super hero tie-in…why not Teen Titans? Seems like a no brainer to me.

  16. Tom G Says:

Big Hartley fan, but I question making a series that most will consider a “spin-off” if it isn’t a direct spin-off anyways.
I would like to see something in a different vein of comics. There are so many different paths they could take if they insisted on making a DC themed show and I’d really like to see a new one. Loved Smallville, one of my favorite shows ever, but variety is the spice of life.
Deadman series sounds interesting. Something I’d be more likely to watch.
