I’m an old man. But I have kids. So, I see a lot of junk. The one thing I would say in favor of Wizards, Hannah and maybe even Suite Life is at least they were real sitcoms. As in there was an actual situation that inspired the comedy. Teen girl is secret rock star. Teen girl is secret wizard. Teen Dennis the Menaces grow up in Richie Rich world. Wizards seems to be the last idea Disney has had. The shows that have come since… I don’t even think they are trying.

As a 26 year old guy who has been watching the show sporadically for about two or three years, I couldn’t agree more. I do get funny looks when I mention Wizards in public (except for one night when a female friend and I had a mini-marathon via the magic of Netflix), but it was eminently watchable, and while I would hesitate to call it “good”, I always enjoyed it. Alex was a much more interesting heroine than 99% of Disney leads–she was selfish, rude, rebellious, and lazy, but charming enough to still be likable.

I couldn’t have said this better myself. Though I did grow up on the Disney Channel, the nostalgia has remained with me into my mid-20s. On a side note, if you’re not watching Phineas and Ferb, you’re doing a great disservice to yourself.

Wow. I honestly could have written every word of this article it describes me so exactly! Not sad that the show is ending but I do feel like I’ve lost a small part of the child inside me.
