Wacker: “Marvel’s Kids Line Isn’t Going Away”

Good news for those (like me) fearful about yesterday’s quiet cancellation of both Spider-Man and Super-Heroes from Stephen Wacker on Twitter:

One of those times where I’m very happy to be proved overly pessimistic. Looking forward to whatever the announcement turns out to be.

    Toldja!

Slightly off-topic, but Wacker would have done better to leave out the bit about bloggers. It’s not a “bad guess” when your solicitations for your kids’ books read “FINAL ISSUE” and you haven’t announced plans for a replacement line.

Sure, the professional thing to do is to check your sources before running with a story, but Wacker is being just as unprofessional by including a blanket insult in his response.

Have to agree with you, Paul. Marvel loves the free publicity it gets from all the independent journalists online give them, but only so much as they can control them, it seems. Any time there’s a difference of opinion on their work, or a completely understandable “error” as this one, and they seem to think bloggers, and every person who posts online about comics anywhere, is nothing but “nerds in their basements.”

Of course, the flip side is… we still get a Marvel Kids Line. And that’s a good thing. So, I’ll let it rest on the more positive note.
