With the release of Fear Itself #7.3 today, there’s one really obvious question I have to ask, but it requires a spoiler break. Join me under the jump, if you’ve read the book already.
Now that Paris has been restored, are any of the big events from Fear Itself sticking? Maybe I’m forgetting something, but haven’t we seen reversals of every big ticket event in the series by now? Bucky never died, Thor is alive again – or, at least, not dead in the traditional sense – and now Paris’ destruction – which all occurred outside of the main book anyway – has been undone. What does that leave remaining? The disappearance of Asgard floating above Broxton? The Worthy and the Mighty were temporary, too, with no real lasting effects outside of McGuffins to launch The Fearless and The Defenders, so… Is Fear Itself the event with the least long-lasting effect on its universe since, what, Maximum Security?
Also: How odd is it that the three epilogues to the series are pretty much there to undo what happened in the series?

Yeah, I’m actually kind baffled by it. I mean, it’s not unusual to see things like that reversed at some point, but across the board like this, right after the series “ended?”
It just makes it seem like Marvel editorial was using other people’s characters and saying “don’t worry, you can fix them after we’re done.”
So bizarre.

So… did you actually read the comic or did you just take a bleeding cool article and re write it? As you are wont to do.

Graeme, major company-wide crossover events with little if any significant consequences is fairly standard operating procedures at the Big Two.
Growth requires change and TPTB fear change more than death. Considering the amount of aliens, high technology, and extra-dimensional entities, you’d think the main Earths of DC and Marvel would be radically different from Earth IRL, but they aren’t by editorial fiat, so “neighborhood” heroes fight street crimes on blocks similar to our own.

If only Marvel could retcon wallets to their pre-Fear Itself status.

@Me: (which sounds far too meta, but I digress) That really is a stupid remark.

What about Secret Invasion? Oh, look Wasp is dead and that really wasn’t Elektra or Spider-Woman all that time. Okay, now New York is burning AGAIN?!
I will read the new Winter Soldier ongoing. See some good came of all this in the end.

Provided they don’t decide to cancel the Winter Solider series before it debuts.
