Wondering what the “It’s Coming” teases – now with extra Phoenix! – are teasing? Well, this might add some fuel to your thinking fires:
Not a Phoenix event…? But something with the Phoenix, it seems, and written by all of Marvel’s Architects, with art by Olivier Coipel, John Romita Jr. and Adam Kubert? Something tells me that it’ll be a massive hit, even if the only Phoenix it features are flashbacks to Excalibur so that everyone can make fun of the costume Rachel Summers wore at the time.
Those wanting to try and puzzle it out, you might want to pick up the Point One oneshot, which’ll be easier than you might have thought; turns out that Marvel will be double-shipping the book, which is released next month.

I know! I know!
It’s something event bigger and meaner than the Phoenix Force!
Maybe the baddies from the Cancerverse are invading? Would fit with Nova returning.

Wait.
Kubert
Coipel
Romita
One of these is not like the other.
Hint: It’s Romita, because his art looks like crap.

It doesn’t add new fuel to my thinking fire at all. It’s Brevoort being Brevoort, something we should know not to take seriously by now. Of course he’s not going to flat-out confirm what kind of event it is two days after the teaser comes out.

“What Is Coming To Marvel?”
Is it a sense of moral shame with regard to the lack of decent acknowledgment of the work of The Original Marvel Architect Mr. Jack “King” Kirby? Is it? Huh? Huh?

I’m calling it right now:
Phoenix reboots the 616 Marvel Universe.

@Zach Diff’rent Strokes and all that.
The only times I’ve thought JRJR’s work looked bad was in the mid-80s when I didn’t know any better and a recent Avengers story where the inker’s style didn’t mesh with his. (But then again, I’ve always found that particular inker’s brush to be way too overpowering.)

By wording his response as a question, I think Breevort is being his usual slippery, disingenuous self. His response is the same as saying “Who said the Pope was Catholic?” It’ neither a denial nor a confirmation.

X-men/Avemgers war, because the Avengers weren’t particularly happy about the X-men’s resident future boy trying to ice them.
Meanwhile Kang and Immortus sit back with a bag of popcorn and watch the temporal mayhem that ensues.
