My buddy Hal was optimistic, too, when Geoff started writing his stories. One of the first things Johns did was retcon the tragic death of Hal’s poor dad. Suddenly Hal is some angst-ridden Pater Parker knock-off!

I’m King of the Seven Seas, dammit. I deserve better than being treated like one of Stan Lee’s afterthoughts.

DC may be committing suicide right now, but Aquaman will always be one of my favorites. Hopefully he and his pals will survive this current nonsense and we’ll see the real Arthur again in a few years. Happy birthday, your highness.

i thought Aquaman was awesome in Brightest Day when he summoned a zombie shark and octopus. he’s a badass character with a lot of potential given the right talent.

@Iwaseurostar: Again, maybe try reading something before you decide it makes you “somehow feel depressed.” This one of those things that just amazes me about comic fans. You’re all so sure that something sucks before you actually read it.

I remember when Aquaman was the King of the DC Universe, had a regal presence and was the badass of the Justice League. That was when Peter david and Grant Morrison where chronicling his adventures. Then the lack of respect really returned, and it was when some Geoff Johns started to rewrite the DC Continuity drowning it back into silver age. I really have high hope for the new run, but somehow feel depressed…

Maybe Aquaman could wait to read the first issue of his new series before complaining about “this DCnU garbage.” (Because prior to Blackest Night the old continuity had been doing REALLY WELL by our fishy friend, right?) I’ve actually read it and it addresses head-on the lack of respect Aquaman has been treated with over the years. So, just a thought: if you want to be treated with respect, try treating others with respect. Especially if you’re a fictional character, and the real-world people you’re slagging on the internet control your publication rights. Unless you’d like to get killed AGAIN and then spend another five years in limbo, of course.

Thanks for the kind words everyone! It’s been a rough 70 years, lots of ridicule and embarrassment for this old fish. And now that Geoff Johns is writing my adventures, I expect the suckage to continue for a little longer. But there’s light at the end of the tunnel! Once this DCnU garbage fails, Dan DiDio will be out on his ass and I can finally get some respect.
