An Avengers logo with an X crosshaired over it?
…Am I the only person who saw that and immediately thought about the number of times we’ve been told that Fear Itself and Schism ending simultaneously is important, and that the X-Men books are going to be getting more in line with the rest of the Marvel Universe, and so on and so on? I know that it’s being teased as an Avengers event, but what if it’s something else…?
Yes, that’s right; now that Marvel seems to have quietly dropping the idea of Astonishing being a line, following the delays in Astonishing Spider-Man and Wolverine, disappointing sales of Astonishing Thor and lack of appearance of Astonishing Captain America, clearly it’s time for a new line to appear out of nowhere. Just when you thought that Avenging Spider-Man was a ludicrous title, be prepared for Avenging X-Men in which the X-Men team up with the Avengers on an ongoing monthly basis for that all-important seventh regular series with the words “X-Men” in the title that the world has been calling out for (Uncanny, Wolverine and, Legacy, Astonishing, X-Men and Ultimate being the others, for those who didn’t realize there were already six).
…Okay, maybe not. But I remain convinced that there’s going to be some level of mutant involvement in whatever this teaser turns out to be. Having an X in a circle – even when it is a crosshairs sight tilted slightly – is too much of an X-Men icon for it to be coincidental, surely. Hey, wasn’t that Jeph Loeb/Ed McGuinness Cable Reborn teaser also set for December…?

Yeah, I suspected this may be Cable Reborn related as well — keep in mind that Marvel said “Cable Reborn” might not be the final title of the project, and that Loeb and McGuinness had an Avengers-related project announced back at Comic-Con 2010.

Maybe they’re finally launching The Uncanny X-Avengers.
It would “sell.”

I don’t know if anyone noticed, and there wasn’t much fanfare around it at the time, but in the packs of Avengers ID cards handed out last NYCC, I received an ID card for Cyclops. Of the maybe 40-50 cards I got, there was only one.
Interesting, yes?
