The Captain America COSTUME is D O P E Y, and C H E E S E.

Constructively, let me just say the the producers of this movie need to add a scene where Evans should say something like “How do you people in the 21st Century put it? Im going ‘old school’ on this?” -and have Captain America wear the AWSOME UNIFORM =not a gay costume=, that he wore in th CAPTAIN AMERICA MOVIE. Jeeze… Marvel/Disney please wake up before you turn this from a global franchise and into a fad. The look of Cap America was RIGHT ON in the Captain America MOVIE.

Zippers on the thighs -its gayness in action, frivilous cheese that ONCE AGAIN, turns the words “Super Hero” into something someone would rather hide their interest in this genre than let people know they like comic book reading. In the picture above the ‘bulb-ous’ head of Evans is retard and the metal strip on his shoulders…its ‘stuptarded’ (yes, thats right: stup+retarded). ***ABONDONDED COMIC BOOK READERS RETURNED TO THE AVENGERS because of the take that writer Millar and ARTIST BRYAN HITCH took on Captain America and the Avengers in their “ULTIMATES” comic book story.

Check out the interview with artist Hitch in the DVD Special Features for the animated Avengers2 movie. Their take on the “Super-hero” is a practial and useful look of the persons cloths as a uniform, THE BELT, BOOTS, the -start in the circle on the shouulder …-this is a very successful ‘interpretation’ that brought back and creatged NEW READERS OF COMICS. ????? SO WHY IS MARVEL/DISNEY NOT USING IT ANYMORE ????? If it isnt broken, THEN DONT FIX IT!!!

KEEP THE Captain America MOVIE UNIFORM P L E A S E. He can always just go back to this one you are showing above whenever you want sales to drop and people to be embarrassed that they like superheros.

Sure, I’m a little bummed about not following the original story where Namor is involved and the AVENGERS find him as they search for the HULK…and then, team up with the Fantastic Four!

But mOVIes Is A DIffERenT CreaTURE!!

No mention of THE ALL-WINNERS SQUAD or THE INVADERS,…OR THE HUMAN TORCH, TORO, OR NAMOR in the ’40′s.!! They’ve torn the “heart” out of it for me.

But so it goes!!

Anyone read the original New Avengers? (if not WHY not because you missed out there) anyway, the Cap’ drawn by David Finch is, when he’s dynamic, full of action and grace, far from goofy. But when he’s just stood around as a guy in a flag, the mask looks kinda like it does there, a bit odd and out of place.

I doubt he’ll be smiling in the actual shot that’s from, but if that’s what Cap’ looks like when he smiles…then that’s what Cap’ looks like when he smiles.

OMG that looks like crap! The one from the Cap movie was awesome. They should have kept that. He at least looked manly. He looks like he is wearing a cheap halloween costume. I am seriously disappointed. And I am sorry but the girl is not looking at it in approval. She is thinking – I can’t believe he is wearing this outfit. This is bad. Why is the whites of the costume, gray/silver? Red White and Gray? I SAY RED WHITE AND GAY! Nice silver bar. If he is a Captain, they should have given him 2 bars vertical.

All it needs are the wings to stick out of the helmet, the buccaneer boots, the flared gauntlets and the chain mail look, and you’re pretty much in business! And shouldn’t the sleeves be partially white, as it normally looks like he’s wearing a long-sleeved white shirt underneath? And what are those strap things on his shoulders?

All in all, not too bad!

Approved! It’s as best as it can look while reflecting the comics and something someone in actual combat would wear. (And thank goodness there are no fish scales all over the shirt.) As far as the helmet/mask goes, let’s be honest; our heads are far rounder than we draw them in comic books, so naturally it’s going to look more bulbous. At least he’s not wearing a motorcycle helmet *ahem! ’70s crap with Reb Brown!*

I think the costume looks pretty cool. It’ll look better in motion with the proper lighting etc.

As for the CA Shield controversy in IM2 – well I always thought that the shield was something that Tony or his father may have been working on in the past, and the fact that Tony DIDN’T treat it in a respectful manner was that he knew the real Captain America never used it. Of course after seeing the CA movie we know it was never a prototype, as it didn’t appear in the film as one of Steve’s choices (most of which were rectangular). It seems to be some form of continuity error know as I doubt the CA script was fully completed prior to filming that scene in IM2. Guess we’ll never know…

Of course it would be interesting to see if the IM2 shield was created for ANOTHER Captain America like the one from the 50′s.

The WWII costume looked better. This new one is okay, but I’m not feeling the helmet. In my opinion Anna Sheppard (costume designer for Cap) > Alexandra Byrne (costume designer for Thor and Avengers according to imdb), at least as far as Cap’s costumes go.

I appreciate that they’re trying to make the costume like in contemporary comics. I do agree with others that the helmet wings should stick out (now, I don’t know if the wings are just drawn-on like that in the new storylines, because I don’t read the new ones). However, the images that I know of Captain America all have protruding wings. Although I was let down by the Captain America film, I hope The Avengers is fantastic. It is a real shame Norton’s not returning, though.

Couldn’t they modernize the outfit from the current movie? Take the same design and just update it instead of the radical result seen here? Personally, I like the suit from the current movie, as it seemed practical given the time frame that the movie is set. This “Avenger” version just looks cheap. It reminds me a lot of the ’91 movie costume and I was really expecting more. Thor’s suit, Iron Man’s armor, and Black Widow’s uniform look true to comics and realistic. Cap’s suit here looks like something you’d get at a Halloween Express store for trick-or-treating at a cost of $59.95!
