This is a teaser trailer for 2012′s The Avengers. Watch at your own risk — as I viewed the clip, all I could think to myself was how cool it would be if I saw it for the first time in a theater, instead of a shaky fancam YouTube clip — and read on after the jump for some more potential fun-ruining details. (Pro tip: only click “read the rest of the entry” if you want to deprive yourself of an awesome surprise.)
So, apparently, this runs post-credits after Captain America: The First Avenger, out this Friday. Kind of obvious that this would be attached to that movie, yes, and of course post-credits makes more sense than normal trailer placement, but still kind of a bummer to know that four days in advance.

Oh good God yes!

So Cap America awakes in modern times during the film? I’d expected it would have been part of the Avengers movie. Doesn’t matter, I can’t wait.

Mother. Of. God.

Saw the footage. Only thing I’m not a fan of is the overuse of Ultimate designs. Thor ditchs his sleaves and cape, which saddens me, and Hawkeye is in the Ultimates look. Wish they could have given hawkeye his mask and made the costume his purple colors but what are you gonna do.
other than that, I cannot freakin wait for this!

Yeah, Hawkeye’s purple pointy mask & skirt would TOTALLY work on film & make him look way more bad-ass.

Traileraddict.com still has it up and running. It is VERY grainy but you can still see most of it.

>>Thor ditchs his sleaves and cape, which saddens me, and Hawkeye is in the Ultimates look.>>
Thor has been sleeveless since the beginning in the comics, and the Ultimates looks lend themselves more to film so I think this is a smart move.

can’t deny it. best trailer ever.
(reminds me of Firefly/Serenity sooooo much)

Anyone else more excited for this than next year’s Batman flick?
Poor Amazing Spider-man. I think it’s the 2012 superhero film people really don’t care about too much.

@Joe Kach:
The purple, pointy-eared mask is a part of Hawkeye’s original costume. If all you care about is the Ultimates version then I guess you’re not a real fan of Hawkeye….

If all you care about is Hawkeye’s purple Halloween costume and/or Barry Windsor Smith purple dress then I guess you’re not a real fan of common sense…:(

Joe Kach and Bobbi are right. I don’t think I’d be scared of a guy looking like 616 Hawkeye running towards me. Even if he did have a bow and arrow.

Joss Whedon is a big fan of THE ULTIMATES.
Love the Ultimate version of Hawkeye. The look is way cooler than the purple renaissance costume and mask of his 616 counterpart. As stated above, the Ultimate version simply translates to film much better.
Plus, seeing the Ultimate uniform for Thor (along with the Ultimate SHIELD emblem) is fantastic.

I’m pretty excited about the Avengers, too, but Nolan’s Batman(and Burton’s, let’s not forget, and yes, I’m ignoring TOTALY that “other guy’s” monstrosities) has been one of the best movies ever to come out. I’m not talking super-hero movies only, here, it is a great movie in it’s own right. Let’s not make this a DC vs. Marvel thing. Anybody in their right mind can’t ignore what good Batman did and is still doing for all us comics fans and it’s great that Marvel’s movies is keeping a certain quality going.
