Well, the released-today Batman solicitations for October show that those “We’ll keep those books on schedule even if it means switching up creative teams” thing has turned out to be 100% true – and claimed an unsurprising first victim:
BATMAN: THE DARK KNIGHT #2
Written by DAVID FINCH and PAUL JENKINS
Art by DAVID FINCH and RICHARD FRIEND with JAY FABOK
Cover by DAVID FINCH and RICHARD FRIEND
On the plus side, let’s be honest: Paul Jenkins and Jay Fabok both have the same Top Cow charm of David Finch, so it’s possible that the change in creators won’t slow up the content in any way whatsoever. But still: I wonder whether Finch will disappear from the book for a bit to build up a run of completed issues?

It’s very odd. The New 52 was a perfect excuse to make this a mini, shift it to one side until David Finch had completed six issue or whatever. So it goes on the new, super-tight monthly schedule. Did DC not notice that there was a problem.
How many comic do the likes of unproven writer artists shift, anyway?

Big, fat joke.
Just like Adam Kubert’s run on Action Comics.
It bothers me b/c there are so many other, more-proven creators out there who I would LOVE to see on a high profile Batman book such as this.
As soon as I heard that Finch would also be writing this title, I knew this would be the turnout & it killed my enthusiasm to see his art on Batman.
The Snyder/Capullo book is the one to watch if you ask me.

This is another proof that the NuDC was a last-minute idea executed with the same care and precision as Countdown, Identity Crisis and Ambush Bug #6.

I gave the first issue a try and by the time the second issue came out I was finished with it. This one doesn’t even get a browse from me.
