Dear whoever is in charge of casting over at DC Entertainment,
This:
Make it happen.
Love,
Graeme.
(If you’re wondering what that is: It’s Carlos Pagulayan’s take on Sherlock‘s Benedict Cumberbatch as Morpheus, which I discovered via a tweet from Sandman creator Neil Gaiman, who called it “actually quite spooky.” He’s right, and I’d really, really love to see someone try to make it happen… as long as it didn’t effect any future Sherlocks…)

I actually thought that that was/is a real poster (happends to me alot). I like Sherlock too, but I missed the 2. episode, and during the 3. episode there was something wrong with the transmission.
Oh gosh, I wrote something that noone particularly doesn`t need to know. Again.

Nice. Very nice. He would also work quite well as the Shade.

So…he has played Sherlock, will be Smaug and Sauron, and would make a great Morpheus.
If we recast Jaws, he should play the shark

That looks freaking awesome and would be brilliant. So of course it will never happen.

“That looks freaking awesome and would be brilliant. So of course it will never happen.”
And that’s the kicker… Anytime fandom comes up with a great casting idea (Nathan Fillion as Hal Jordan, for instance) you can rest assured that it won’t happen. I wonder if DC/WB are still so happy they went with Ryan Reynolds, who would’ve been far more suited to play Wally West. Of course, the GL movie has far more problems than just that bit of casting, but still.
Cumberbatch is great modern-day Sherlock, and he’d make an excellent Morpheus as well. Maybe for once they’ll finally get one right. Aside from the excellent casting in the Nolan Batman movies, that is. So far, that seems like the only DC property being done with any signs of intelligence. Well, V For Vendetta was good too. But that was just a one-shot deal.
I’m with Graeme on this one… Make. It. Happen.

Make that “fear” in a handful of dust…

Cumberbatch would be the perfect Morpheus. Joe Wright the director said Cumberbatch had to drop out of Anna Karenina as he’s being offered projects every day. Its great to see producers finally realise what an incredible actor he is BUT it also means he’s having to turn down lots too.
He’s perfect for so many roles e.g Harry Flashman for instance and I’d love to see him as Dr Who. I’d also have loved him as the Riddler in a future Batman film.

He’d be an incredible Dr Strange
