Thirty-Six Seconds of the WONDER WOMAN Pilot Surfaces Online

June 23rd, 2011
Author Albert Ching

Update: Whoops, unsurprisingly, the video’s been taken down by Warner.

Original story: And, well, here it is, and note the classic “shorts” look on Wonder Woman instead of the longer pants that were originally introduced:

OK, so those dudes look like they were cast out of a hired goon catalogue, but there’s nothing so awful in that 36 second clip, right? NBC aired nine episodes of The Cape, after all. Also: how long before the whole thing surfaces? Seems kind of inevitable.

my first thought was – how would that outfit tie-in with the comic reboot? Would they cancel the series because it was out of sync with the big relaunch?

  2. Wil Hatchel Says:

They cancelled it because it was crap.

  3. Jeff Pedigo Says:

She looks great in that footage! Much better than in any of the stills we’ve seen thus far. I’m sure the full pilot will surface at some point like the WB’s Aquaman did eventually.

  4. Albert Ching Says:

The decision to not pick up the pilot was NBC’s, not Warner/DC.

  5. Brett Says:

Plus did anyone else notice that her costume was back to the bloomers instead of the leggings? Good choice IMO.

  6. Albert Ching Says:

Jeff – that was put out above board by the studio, though. Word is the Wonder Woman pilot has a lot of unfinished effects, so we’ll probably never see it put out legally — unless someone decides they could make enough of a profit on a release that it’s worth finishing it up.

  7. JohnByrneSaidWhat? Says:

When the script was first leaked I thought it sounded horrible and was quite relieved that the pilot didn’t get picked up. Then I read a review of someone who saw the whole pilot and they made enough changes I am sorta sorry it didn’t make it to air.

  8. Red Robin Says:

30 seconds is hardly anything to go off of, but I’ll admit, she looked good in the role. See, personally I never had any issue with the actress or even the costumes (both long pants and bikini). It was the premise I took issue with. Honestly, had they gone more a “George Perez” era route where she’s an ambassador of Peace rather than a business CEO fighting against some evil female corporation owner, this could have been a good show that made it to series.

  9. Bob Says:

She looks awesome and very sexy. Pity we won’t see a full show.

  10. Unit_99 Says:

I feel sorry for DC/WB bc things just keep going down hill for them. Hope things turn around. Maybe forgo adapting their material for TV/FILM for a decade or so. Keep with the animation or Vertigo adaptions.

  11. CDickerson Says:

Where can you see the Aquaman pilot?
And more likely this will get released overseas before we ever see it here.

  12. Heyohyeah Says:

Lol, the music in that clip is ripped from the Iron Man soundtrack.

  13. mk Says:

Wow, that was just bad. Good call NBC.

  14. Albert Ching Says:

    CDickerson – it’s on iTunes.

  15. hothead Says:

DAMN she looked good in that outfit! I would have watched just to see her in that outfit every week. Wasn’t that the reason people watched the original Wonder Woman back in the day? Sure wasn’t because the stories were any good……

  16. JillPantozzi Says:

She looks fabulous and her action moves look perfect. If only the script could have been as good.

  17. Will Says:

I would tap that harder than the bottom of a snapple bottle!

  18. Stephen Bergstrom Says:

    Video’s been yanked.

  19. Jeff Pedigo Says:

Albert—Good point. I suppose they’d have to do a cost/benefit analysis. It may be that a smart edit would help them avoid a great deal of further effects work. Or perhaps they’re free to shop the pilot to other channels? (I haven’t read much about the nuts & bolts of the deal.) That said, I HOPE we get to see it at some point.

(Incidentally, for anybody who missed it, it’s here for the time being: http://panelsonpages.com/?p=40203&cpage=1 (Better hurry tho if you wanna beat the lockdown.)

  20. Nijrose Says:

I was really down on this and hated the stills, but it actually looks OK – nice air of menace from the lady.

  21. Deep_shock Says:

I hope it gets picked by another network…

  22. Alex Says:

Wow- I didn’t expect her to look so good; seeing her moving in the costume, and they way her body language read- it was seriously awesome. Good on her for actually pulling it off!!!!
I really got the sense that she emoted a cool, intense “don’t f with me” vibe. And it was kinda funny, the puchline of her getting past security.

Now I’m really bummed that this didn’t work out.
    Crap!

  23. Ben Williams Says:

Still don’t like the looks of it. Not so much the costume, but just her. Maybe the look just doesn’t translate well from comic strip to TV, but she looks odd in it.

And that acting by the guys was pooooor!!!!

  24. Lyrd Says:

She looks a bit downs syndrome.

  25. Skyhawk Says:

She looks good, but I still want to see the pilot because I’m a glutton for punishment. Anyone know if Joss Whedon’s script was leaked out?
