New DAREDEVIL film to be written by Fringe scribe

The Hollywood Reporter has just announced that Fox’s reboot of the Daredevil movie franchise will be written by Brad Caleb Kane, writer  and co-producer on Fringe.

Not just that, but THR also reports Kane will have the task of adapting Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli’s “Born Again” run from the Daredevil comics. “Kane is a Daredevil fan, and his energy and passion for the material helped him nab the job, according to insiders,” says THR.

You may remember the Ben Affleck starring Daredevil film that was released to a few unhappy fans back in 2003. “David Slade is developing and attached to direct the new Daredevil movie. Peter Chernin and Dylan Clark of Chernin Entertainment are producing,” says THR.

Interesting side note, while he hasn’t produced many feature films, Kane has spent part of his career acting. One of his roles was Tucker Wells, older brother of Andrew on Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

So, yes to a new Daredevil movie or no?

I feel out of all the characters that would need a reboot, Daredevil would get it. I mean Spider-man and X-men get them and they weren’t even bad movies. So yes!

Can they just make a sequel, I dont care if its with diferent actors but make a new story I dont want another origin I am just so tired of reboots.

Daredevil is a great character with great stories that got made into a bad movie. He absolutely deserves a reboot. DD more than most Marvel characters should succeed on the big screen.

I have high hopes for this movie. But I don’t really need another origin tale either. I thought the last Hulk movie showed it really wasn’t needed either. Everytime I would hear about the supposed Green Arrow script (about Ollie in prison), I was like, make that a new Daredevil script – based on Brubaker’s “The Devil In Cell Block D” I’d watch that.

Please no more reboots they are redundit just make a good movie

Directors cut made an excellent flick out of what was released to theaters. FOX should have been smart enough to let the director’s cut go to theaters but they had to muck it up too much. Have hopes for this flick and, honestly, wouldn’t care one way or the other if Affleck was back in the role.

I’m gonna get a lot of flak for this, but I really loved the Daredevil movie. It’s still one of my favorite super hero movies made. I can’t figure out why so many fans hate it so much.

  8. Church Says:

I liked the last Daredevil movie too, and didn’t mind Ben Affleck in it at all… they should just make a sequel and not reboot

HELL YEAH! That Ben Affleck turd should be picked up with a pooper scooper and thrown out. Lets get some real talent and a strong cast and reboot this thing ASAP. Lets put Daredevil on top where he belongs not on the crappy movie pile. And I can’t stand how people stand there and say that movie was not bad at all. It was a train wreck through and through. I especially like how DD let the criminal get run over by the C-Train out of a sense of “justice”. CRAP. Last time I checked he does not kill out of a sense of “justice”.

    ehhh

It seems like they’re making the same mistake as the previous movie. That time, they wanted to cram in the whole Miller Elektra/Bullseye storyline in addition to introducing the character to audiences. Born Again could make an excellent sequel or threequel, but the hero-rebuilding-himself-after-his-world-is-destroyed storyline plays better if we’ve already had his world established in earlier adventures. I’d rather have a story that establishes the enmity with Kingpin and how Karen Page learns DD’s identity before we get a movie in which she sells him out.

Also, from a commercial aspect, Born Again’s probably not going to sell a lot of toys unless they add a lot of stuff to it.

Fox is still the company behind it, so no, I don’t want a reboot until the rights lapse back to Marvel.

  13. CS Barnahrt Says:

This is how it should have happened. Daredevil (as it was made in 2003, a good strong film, but release the directors cut, not the theatrical version). The Man Without Fear (Born Again, picks up a few years after part 1, Kingpin already knows all he needs to from end of first film, instead of pulling off his trouble from a yacht, he pulls it from rykers). Guardian Devil (the Kevin Smith story, but have the return of kingpin from prison in it, similar to some of Bendis’ work).
You could then “reboot” as a side project and do The Man Without Fear comic book art.
