And here it is! (Click on the image for a way bigger version.)

So, unsurprisingly, it’s pretty different from Bane the comic book character, but definitely retains enough elements to keep it familiar. And it looks like those reports of Tom Hardy beefing up for the role were no joke.

The picture was released through a viral campaign started on the @TheFireRises Twitter account, which leads to the film’s site. It was announced just yesterday that filming had started on The Dark Knight Rises, so we can surely look forward to plenty of leaked set photos, news, rumors, script details and assorted other fun in the next 14 months or so. 2. Some Guy Says:

    Woop!

Also, are those white tubes I see on the front of the mask?

  3. mateo Says:

hm, i almost mistook it for a pic from a gay fetish website…

  4. Freight Says:

I’m not sure what to think of this. The Dark Knight was pretty dull for me and would have been terrible without Heath Ledger.

This looks like some kind of Mortal Kombat 3: the Movie wannabe, and that doesn’t give me much hope.

  5. Ziyad Says:

    looks ok.

  6. BatrocZLeaper Says:

Bane needs to get that mole in his armpit checked out.

  7. Batfan86 Says:

    Cool. Let’s see Catwoman now!

  8. What If Zod Was One Of Us? Says:

Just so long as it isn’t Bane from Batman & Robin, I’m cool with it!

  9. Murphy Says:

I can’t really see enough to judge.

  10. zedzerro Says:

that’s cool enough for a preview image, considering this movie is still two years away from being released.

  11. zedzerro Says:

    one year ****

    my bad

  12. Tim Says:

Pic doesn’t really show much, he looks like a beefed up Hannibal Lecter

  13. Devon Robbins Says:

Did anyone happen to zoom in and notice the “intake hole” on the back of his mask???

    Guess what goes in there?

    This obviously “pre-venom” Bane :D

  14. Daniel Says:

Not only is there a valve on the back of his head, but there is a tube running around to the front of his mask. Looks like Nolan eliminated Banes giant obvious weakness: the tube running from wrist to head.

    Mask looks great.

  15. Shameless Says:

That looks great. Like a deranged mental patient! ;)

  16. Dangersmith Says:

I totally trust Nolan to make sound decisions with his interpretations of Batman characters. This version of Bane serves as a good starting point, and I’m sure things will improve in the next 2 years. Way too soon to bitch (or rave) about anything… but Bane is looking good.

  17. R.J.Bowman Says:

Bane has always bored me. If this movie can make Bane interesting, I’ll be impressed.

  18. Jeremy Says:

See Hardy is a great actor because he beef up for roles!

  19. WILGENHOFFF Says:

I’m wondering about what can possibly be the two light sources in the background!

  20. Unit_99 Says:

Looks ok…I’m sure he will look more in line to the comics eventually. I was not to pleased at the first fight pics released of the Joker & Batman in The Dark Knight, but when I watched the scene I was pleased. So I think it will turn out well! :)

  21. Jeff Peters Says:

Wait. It’s Batman and Catwoman and they decided to title it “The Dark Knight Rises”? Did they really think this out? The porn industry won’t even have to change the title of the knock off.

  22. Ravager Says:

No se que pensar, pero es muy poco para jusgar, pero se ve ok, im eciting right now! saludos desde Guatemala!
