Marvel wins the internet with Little Thor

I don’t know whose idea it was to parody the hysterical Star Wars Volkswagon commercial from the Superbowl this year but I now bow down before them. Introducing, Little Thor.

This is one of the best pieces of marketing I’ve ever seen. Besides the fact that the ending of the commercial is 10 billion times funnier than the Star Wars one, fans can also dissect the entire thing for Marvel related Easter Eggs. How many can you find?

I don’t know about anyone else, but I’d love to see a short film on the Thor DVD with this kid.

I caught the dog’s name and the license plate straight off, lemme see here…

The Thor action figure behind the little blonde girl doll

    The Stark coffee mug

    Anyone else?

  2. Marlin Says:

The song is Flight of the Valkyries. Pretty obvious though.

  3. akachris Says:

    Brilliant.

  4. Robert Duvall Says:

    That’s RIDE of the Valkyries.

    And it sounds like victory.

  5. bob Says:

there’s an iron man air freshener in the car, also too.

  6. brian Says:

The license plate on the car reads “A5G 4RD” or…Asgard.

Didn’t find anything the rest of you didn’t. Just wanted to say “Hi” to Vinnie, on the chance he comes back to read this. Hi, Vinnie. Also, more on topic, this promo is so cool, it almost makes up for the alarmingly lazy and pointless red-tinted close-up shot they’re using as a movie poster. Honestly, is that the image they think will help put asses in seats? Really? With so much fantastic imagery to choose from, they decide that a picture of a good-looking but otherwise unremarkable man is the way to go. And to add insult to injury (hey, I have to bring up adding insult to injury—we’re on the internet!!!), the evolutionary u-turn who made this decision probably gets paid ridiculous sums of money to make decisions as crappy as this. Where, I ask, is the justice?

  8. Solid Says:

    MEH.

  9. Sean Says:

Lame as the movie will be.

  10. Cameron Says:

Little Thor should team up with Iron Baby

  11. André Says:

ok, I found the name of the dog is loki,in the bedroom behind the doll is a figure of thor and in the kitchen the cup is from “stark enterprise” and also the air freshener and the car plate already mention :P

  12. bairdduvessa Says:

i hope this and the Conan bits end up on the DVDs

  13. Rich Says:

I’m not much of a Star Wars fan anymore (due to three lousy prequels that dispensed with much of why I liked the first three), AND I’m a Marvel guy… but the original Star Wars version of this is better.

  14. Barry Says:

Sorry, but this was nowhere as cute as the Vader. While it was a jolt when the lighting hit, it wasn’t funny when you consider the damage. Over doing a god thing.

  15. Pennyforth Says:

Not as funny as (but, I suppose, far more mass-market friendly than) Thor’s Kitchen.

    The dog’s name is Loki.

  17. Nathan Says:

Hmm, Act of God. Someone’s not going to be able to claim on the car insurance…

  18. Morgan Leigh Says:

    Way cool!

  19. JillPantozzi Says:

    Nathan FTW.
