There’s still a lot up in the air about the Deadpool film, but things got a lot more real today when Deadline reported that Tim Miller is officially on board as director of the 20th Century Fox picture.
Who is Tim Miller, you ask? He’s a visual effects artist who worked on X-Men and X2, known to many X-Men fans as “the good X-Men movies.” His IMDb also lists credits on Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, Daredevil, and Gigli (yes). Deadline says the film’s title is X-Men Origins: Deadpool, reflecting 2009′s X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which featured the first on-screen appearance of Merc with a Mouth Wade Wilson.
Ryan Reynolds played Deadpool in that film, and spoke of the possibility of starring in a Deadpool movie last week during the Green Lantern panel at WonderCon in San Francisco, saying that he couldn’t really comment much since there were so many unknowns, but if he were to be involved in it, it would be done the “right way — hard R.”

Pretty optimistic of Reynolds to say that a Deadpool movie would be done hard “R.” I wouldn’t be entirely surprised to learn that the suits at Fox would rather walk a mile on hot coals than let that happen. Looks like barring an eight-figure paycheck with a hefty percentage of the grosses for Ryan it’s a pretty sure thing he WON’T be playing Wade Wilson…

Agree w/ Jim A.
The days of Ryan Reynolds playing every superhero are past. That’s Chris Evans’ job now.
I think there’s more “green” to be made over on the set of the STAR WARS prequel…uh, excuse me…LANTERN sequel, anyway.
Deadpool’s a character that’s destined to make SPIRIT-level Box Office.

I can actually see Reynolds taking a huge paycut it means the film gets made.

How about just not making a Deadpool movie? Who’s demanding this movie anyway? Deadpool fans seem to me’ the same kind of fans that encourage bands like Godsmack and Disturbed to keep making horrible albums.
Let Nicholas Cage play Deadpool and let Reynolds keep at a successful franchise and a successful character.

Deadpool could have been cool, like say, Blade. However they pretty much screwed everything up with him in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. They veered so far off of the character as he appears in the comics, that they would have to do a major reboot of the character. Can’t see myself getting very excited about this even if Reynolds is back. Still not really all to sure about Captain America at this point. Thor is looking interesting which is something that I’ve never felt about the character.

Can we just not have Fox do any more Marvel movies at all?

I’m not a DEADPOOL fans, so this is not an issue for me. However, when will there be any development for any film adaptations of either DOCTOR STRANGE, BLACK PANTHER or LUKE CAGE to hit the screen yet?

“Can we just not have Fox do any more Marvel movies at all?”
Winner!

For those who aren’t aware, the producer Donnar said, speaking about a potential Deadpool movie, that they would act as if Wolverine Origins never happened. The Deadpool movie will start from scratch. And yes, Deadpool needs to be a hard R. No PG-13 bullshit. If you’re going to do a Deadpool movie, do it right.

I’d rather spend 2 hours staring at dog sh**.

Didn’t Clint Eastwood already star in DEADPOOL? Except his name was Dirty Harry.
