This is the end, my friends. Smallville is coming to a close, and just as pretty much everyone suspected, it will be ending with a big two-hour finale. Officially announced today by the CW, the big finale hits Friday May 13, 2011.
Hopefully the fight between Clark Kent and Darkseid will be longer than the 2.5 second fight against Doomsday, and maybe will even see Clark don the iconic costume.

February 7, 2011 (Burbank, California) – The CW will present the series finale of SMALLVILLE as an epic two-hour television event on Friday, May 13 (8:00-10:00 p.m. ET.)
The story of a young Clark Kent (Tom Welling) and his journey to become the Man of Steel has captivated audiences for a decade. This final season, Clark attempts to find a balance between saving the world, which becomes even more difficult as the Vigilante Registration Act separates a nation, and spending time with his new fiancée Lois Lane (Erica Durance). Whether it’s donning glasses as a disguise, changing in a phone booth or learning how to fly, this season has put Clark closer to his destiny than ever before. Taking on Darkseid and battling the darkest of his demons, this two-hour event will send Clark soaring towards his birthright to secure his place in history as the world’s greatest protector.
“Paying homage to 10 seasons is no small task, and wrapping up each character and story arc has been extremely important to everyone involved in the show,” said executive producers Brian Peterson and Kelly Souders. “We’re excited to be able to make the final moments of SMALLVILLE a television event, as the character we’ve grown up with makes his legendary transformation.”
Please note SUPERNATURAL will be pre-empted on May 13 but will return with a two-hour season finale on Friday, May 20 (8:00-10:00 p.m. ET.)
SMALLVILLE was developed for television by Alfred Gough & Miles Millar (“Shanghai Noon,” “The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor”), based on the DC Comics characters. Kelly Souders & Brian Peterson serve as executive producers, along with James Marshall, Mike Tollin, Brian Robbins, Joe Davola and Tom Welling. The series is produced by Tollin/Robbins Productions, Millar/Gough Ink and Warner Bros. Television. SUPERMAN was created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.

Lionel or Young Lex clone will become the embodiment of Darkseid, they fight, one shale stand, one shall fall
blah blah blah blah
Jeebus, end it already. It’s bad enough they made Clark Kent the most unlikeable character in the show, but to do the obvious by bringing back Lionel and Zod makes the ending pretty pointless. Something stupid will happen, the smallville writers never fail with the stupid

Villains make endings pointless? oookay. And people have the nerve to make fun of fanboys.

I do hope we get one last appearance from Michael Rosenbaum. Did enjoy his take on Lex.

Any chance that Geoff Johns will write the finale? That would ensure it’s suckitude.

The best way for this show to end with a bang would be to stop having more “filler” episodes and mainly focus on Lex and Lionel Luthor, Granny Goodness, Desaad, and Darkseid. An epic battle between Kal-El and Darkseid, complete with the parademons would be great too.

So what were the writers thinking on Smallville’s Going to the Chapel episode? Were they angry with management, the actors, or the network and that was their revenge? Why didn’t the producers, the director, the actors or someone stop the filming and demand a rewrite. Clever one liners are expected, but Oliver Queen in drag + campy, campy, and more campy is audience abuse. Very disappointed that the Smallville team would have so little regard for their faithful audience through all these years they’d purposely create such a mockery in the final few shows of the series. The audience deserves an explanation and an apology.
