What about the suite/costume she wore in the first run of HUSH (Jeph Loeb & Jim Lee) (which also has a flashback to the purple tail suit) ? She combines the bodysuit (no tail), night vision goggles and a pair of solid boots.

>>An interesting aspect of the Catwoman legacy is her Marvel “copycats,” Greer Grant and Patsy Walker.<<

Only in that they are females patterned after a cat. Greer as the Cat -- was much more acrobatic and had enhanced strength and metallic claws, empathic abilities and used the lens in her mask to see in the dark. She was a much more physical character than Selina -- and was, of course, a heroine.

I wouldn't mind her current costume if it was drawn to look more black then grey -- and if she lost the horrible goggles -- and wore long hair. I know long hair isn't practical, but this is comics -- and Batman's cape is less practical than Selina's long hair. For the movie, if she becomes Catwoman, I hope she wears a dark purple pleather outfit similar to Newmar's black catsuit.

CLAUDIO POZAS: Since Black Cat pre-dated Selina wearing skin-tight black or grey suits and since it pre-dated her retcon from gangster and jewel thief to actual cat-burglar, many (including Felicia's creators) have argued that she is NOT a Catwoman copycat since she operated, dressed and behaved completely differently, that she was just another take on a cat-themed villain.

RC: Well, Brian Bolland did such a great image there, it had to be either the opener or the closer. Glad you dug the article. :-)

SPAZZY: Thanks very much, I appreciate it.

THE ZUG: No law saying you can't. :-) It's not a bad suit.

DESTRON: Scroll up towards the top of the page. On the left side, under FEATURES, you will see an AGENT OF S.T.Y.L.E. button. Or you can go to my web-site, which is listed in my bio above.

DOMINIC: I avoided that film so well and then one day was on a bus that played it. I was so angry at the universe that day. And thanks for your kind words on the piece.

Another great piece. I always kind of liked the goofy green colour scheme of some of her suits - some cats have very green eyes (well, one of ours does anyway) and sometimes what they cough up is kind of green...

But a definite fan of the current look (zipped up when on patrol, zipped down when trying to make an impression please artists - our Selina is a practical gal but she'd never risk a boob dropping out while she was swinging through the air!).

Nice summation of the awful film...far more entertaining the actual movie.

There is one Catwoman costume that have always been very cool. Remember Catwoman The Guardian of Gotham? I think Nolan should look at that one. It's simply a great story and worth mentioning.

Love the modern look with the leather catsuit and goggles. IMO, both the most realistic, (if ignoring the fact that it's near impossible to be stealthy in that much leather), and the sexiest of her looks. Hopefully, we'll see Anne in some sort of approximation for the new movie.

Cyber-Cat? Techno Suit? Well shoot, just throw some belts, shoulder-pads and pouches on there and you've got the ultimate 90's costume. In all seriousness, I too prefer the current look the best, but I'm a big fan of her BTAS look. Something about the belt and the darker face portion of her cowl really made it stick out. Alan, I was hoping you'd give a quick comment on Cat-Man's outfit (both classic and the updated Secret Six version)

Think they'll go with the modern leather and goggles look. Doesn't look as ridiculous as the others. IMO the Golden Age Catwoman was where it was at. They'll never touch that unless they get someone who truly understands the source material and doesn't always look for "realism". Which Nolan often tries too hard and its very forced.

The current costume is by far my fave. Black leather. Boots. Goggles for those high rises where it's windy. Sleek. To me that is what I picture a cat burglar and especially Catwoman should wearing.

Honestly, I'm not a big fan of the goggles with her current costume. They are just huge, plus there is no reason for them to be cat-eared shaped when her cowl is also the same shape. Plus, why have them as an accessory when previous costumes had them built right in?

Can't say I'm a big fan of most of those costumes, which explains in a nutshell why there have been so many. It often comes down to whoever is illustrating her of course, but bottom line, they still haven't got it right.

Darwyn Cooke's costume is by far the best Catwoman has sported. For those who don't think it is sexy, I can only point to the myriad Adam Hughes covers for her series.

Also of note is the fact that the Year One Catwoman and the current Catwoman have short hair, as opposed to the long flowing locks of the classic look.

@Vinnie: Naaah..! That would actually be pretty expected, from Nolan, and very boring, if you ask me.

Here's to Anne Hathaway decked out in black leather, night-vision goggles and a whip! ^^

Catwoman also appeared in several of the Filmation Batman series, wearing different outfits of varying similarity to the comic book version at the time. Here's a site with some shots of the Filmation suits, as well as many of the others.

Several people have said that only Selina Kyle has been mentioned in releases for DKN, not Catwoman. Wouldn't it be interesting if they went back to her roots and made her more the Rafflesque jewel thief again, and left the outlandish customes to Bane?

WOLFTHOMAS: Chris Nolan walks a very fine line between the comic-style and the realistic. The Joker had make-up as opposed to actual green hair and alabaster skin, but he also had a custom tailored purple and green suit. Batman's suit is clearly functional, but also still a costume. I think the film would very likely have something close to Selina's current look, where the only costume aspect to it is the cowl and the goggles.

Very nice article, so glad the 2004 movie was only briefly mentioned. Any speculation on the possible costume for Dark Knight Rises?
