Looks like the David E. Kelley planned Wonder Woman tv series is “not moving forward”, reports Entertainment Weekly. Apparently, their sources told them that all the major broadcasters have passed on the project. NBC was the final network that declined to bring back the super heroine. Of course, Warner Bros. TV has said they are not giving up on this, but it is definitely on hold.
Outside of her appearing on DC animated’s Justice League franchise, Wonder Woman has not appeared in live action since the 1976-1979 series starring Lynda Carter and Lyle Waggoner as Wonder Woman/Diana Prince and Steve Trevor, respectively.
I just don’t get this. Smallville ends in a few months and this would have been the perfect heir. With Batman: The Brave and the Bold on the air, with a Green Lantern animated series coming soon as well, I’d gladly settle for a Wondy animated series at this point.

That’s a shame. I think this could make for a very nice series. I’m surprised that the networks aren’t going for it.

It is odd that they won’t go with this on the CW.
But I think once again it’s clear that WW just doesn’t really speak to anyone. Talents as diverse as JMS, Kelley and Whedon can’t make her sing. I don’t know why this is, but it seems to be the reality.

What’s the point of WB having stakes in The CW and not trying it there? I guess they just want it on a proper station with a real budget, and I also guess budget is why other networks are passing. I can’t imagine other legitimate reasons why stuff like The Cape would go forward and this wouldn’t. I still want my WW fix though.

I disagree that WW doesn’t really speak to anyone. I think people are trying too hard “to make her work.” She works and works well. Just tell her story. And use the mythology. Let’s see the Amazons and the gods as well as the weird foes like Cheetah, Baroness Paula von Gunther, etc… It’s not that hard people.

What a news! I also think this could make for a very nice series! And I’m very diappointed to hear that! I know a lot of people who would be happy to see it continued!

Perhaps it was Kelley’s treatment that the major networks didn’t want. I am surprised that Warner Bros. never tried to intro WW on Smallville and spin-off from that.

Based on the leaked details of the show, I get why it wasn’t picked up just fine. Because it sounded gawdawful. It was Ally McBeal in a superhero costume, while light on the actual superheroics.
