Bruce Wayne, you were always were a player.
According to Deadline News, The Dark Knight Rises director Christopher Nolan is on the prowl (pardon the pun) for two actresses to play a villain and a love interest opposite Christian Bale, aka Bruce Wayne for the next installment of his Batman franchise.
The actresses being mentioned are Rachel Weisz, Naomi Watts, Blake Lively, Natalie Portman, Anne Hathaway and Keira Knightley.
While everything is speculation at this point. I’d love to see a new take on Catwoman and possibly Vicky Vale, a nosy journalist that is out to find the identity of Batman. There is also possibility of Talia al’Ghul, which would make sense and have the trilogy come full circle.
So readers, what do you think? Who would you love to see?

November 11th, 2010 at 4:55 pm
Talia al Ghūl. Hands down.
November 11th, 2010 at 6:24 pm
I am expecting a full circle. Ra’s Ah Ghul, the Lazarus Pit, and Talia.

Catwoman and Talia!

Catwoman and Talia FTW! His true love and the psycho who’s obsessed with him, awesome drama right there.
November 11th, 2010 at 6:46 pm
I’d like to see Talia and agree that this would be a great way to round off the trilogy. Catwoman is nice and all, but my thinking is that Chris Nolan may see her as more of a means of derailing his legacy, in that the Catwoman character seems to have a kind of inherent whimsy that his trilogy decidedly and deliberately omits.
If he does take on a Vicki Vale archetype, then it would help if she were a more intense near-antagonist rather than a love interest for the time being. She needs to be opportunistic and cunning.
Speaking of females, I DEMAND to see more of Detective Renee Montoya. She was one of my favorite characters in The Dark Knight and I believe added a really great layer on the police side of things.
This may be a bit on the fringe, but I would also like to see a Gotham City Police Department spin-off, with Batman playing a peripheral role.
November 11th, 2010 at 6:54 pm
Catwoman played by Rachel Weisz!!!And I hope if the love interest is some dullard of a normal chick like Hatie Holmes’ Rachel Dawes the chemistry is ironically between Bruce and the villainess!
November 11th, 2010 at 7:00 pm
Out of that list, Rachel Weisz and Anne Hathaway are best actresses for the roles.
November 11th, 2010 at 7:08 pm
There was early early early talk about Cher playing Catwoman, i think even mentioned by Nolan himself saying if he did a Catwoman she would be his first choice. At first that sounded incredibly stupid to me, which was pretty much my same reaction to the Joker being casted last time. But the more I thought about it, the more I liked the idea of someone like Cher. Of course it would be easy for Bruce to fall for a young, sexy woman. Selina is supposed to be the “forbidden” love. What better manifestation of “forbidden” then someone like Cher?
As far as the other female, Vicky wouldn’t be a bad idea.
November 11th, 2010 at 7:20 pm
@IronChef
Montoya was not in TDK. You must be thinking of Ramirez.
November 11th, 2010 at 7:23 pm
Catwoman please. And Rachel Weisz should lay her! Nolan is fricking crazy if he thinks fans wants to see Cher play her. He needs his head examined. There are some iconic thing you do not mess with.
November 11th, 2010 at 7:42 pm
Gotta go with Talia.
November 11th, 2010 at 8:03 pm
Rachel Wisez as Talia she has this sophistication to her like in the mummy and Naomi Watts as Catwoman and she got this sultry sexiness the others all good actresses but this is my pick what I am looking forward too however is the new tech Batman might use the bat subway rocket should totally be in it
November 11th, 2010 at 8:04 pm
Talia and Catwoman would be insanely awesome. Catwoman would be an interesting choice as a partner to Batman since Nolan won’t be introducing Robin.
I thought I heard a rumor Nolan was casting for Julie Madison. Anyone else hear that?
November 11th, 2010 at 8:07 pm
Isn’t it bad enough Blake Lively is in Green Lantern?!
November 11th, 2010 at 8:22 pm
I heard about the Julie Madison rumor. Also heard Charlize Theron was up for Sarah Essen.
If they’re casting for Talia, I think Hathaway would be great to cast for that role. She’s more recognizable for her bubblegum/romantic comedy roles than she is for her darker roles and I think her playing Talia would be awesome.
Also, if Talia is going to be in the movie, I predict a twist as with the first with Liam’s Ras (i.e. Henri Ducard). Talia will be going under another name from someone in the Bat-mythos.
In either case, I’m actually impressed with all those actresses (with the exception of Lively–she shouldn’t be playing anything else in the DCU movies but the role she’s already in).
…though I could see her pulling a cameo as Carol Ferris attending a WayneTech function or helping Fox for some reason.
November 11th, 2010 at 8:26 pm
How about Selina Kyle as the love interest, and Talia as the villain? But not the other way around
November 11th, 2010 at 8:55 pm
I agree with Cesar with the first part. But a love triangle would be interesting. Wouldn’t it be an interesting plot point to have Selina as a cat burglar but not as Catwoman yet, once stopped by The Batman she becomes obsessed and creates her own totem-esque mantle in conjunction with Batman’s. Toying with him in a seemingly neutral way like a cat would a mouse because she likes the game…of the thrill of the heist, the chase, him. Could be interesting.
Bruce falls for Talia, although he doesn’t realize her threat to The Batman. While he dislikes Selina for being the thing he’s trying to stop, and maybe it’ll be Catwoman, Selina’s other self, that saves his butt. Giving Batman a nice dose of gray to his black and white. Maybe ends with Catwoman saving Talia, “sacrificing” herself in some scenario where we’re left to speculate whether Talia or Selina survived with some clue that they or one may be alive. Nodding to the al Ghul key to immortality and Selina’s “9 lives” schtick, but not actually portraying anything mystical like the first. And also expanding the mythos of this take on Batman, even if left open in that aspect as something that won’t be continued, being that it’s the last film. By Nolan that is say.
November 11th, 2010 at 10:49 pm
I would like to see the actress, whomever she may be, play Selina Kyle and we see her as a thief. This however is just a ploy to get Batman’s attention. Secretly, Selina Kyle is really Talia al’ Ghul. Her mission could be either revenge for her father’s death or she is working for her father who is still alive.
November 11th, 2010 at 11:15 pm
filming takes place in new orleans…my first thought for the villain was someone like solomon grundy …but then when i saw the pictures of blake lively and naomi watts i thought they would be amazing as silver st cloud…and a great villain would be hugo strange…the 70s silver/hugo story was a classic version of the batman impersonation tale, and would be a fitting end for the character arc in the trilogy….or maybe it is catwoman and talia : )
November 11th, 2010 at 11:22 pm
Its Talia and Catwoman!!!! CANT FREAKING WAIT!!!! THIS IS GOING TO BE SO MUCH FUN! Hope BANE makes an appearance and Black Mask and Hush! Man I wish Nolan would do a 4th film…so much talent so many cool villains and stories! But I will consider myself fortunate to have seen a decent film interpretation of my fav fictional character of all time!
November 11th, 2010 at 11:25 pm
Talia Al Ghul.
Talia Al Ghul.
Talia Al Ghul.
Talia Al Ghul.
Talia Al Ghul.
Talia Al Ghul.
Talia Al Ghul.
Talia Al Ghul.
Talia Al Ghul.
You notice a pattern, here?
Catwoman’s been done. Talia Al Ghul and the return of Ra’s. Perfect way to round out the trilogy.

@Devil_Hanzo Totally right, dude. Thanks for calling me on that. Don’t mean to spread misinformation.
But I maintain that she was a really cool character.
November 12th, 2010 at 1:55 am
Anne Hathaway as Catwoman, please. And Talia too. I couldn’t care less about Vicki Vale.
November 12th, 2010 at 5:13 am
Where’s the love for Aunt Harriet?
November 12th, 2010 at 5:20 am
No Vicky please, unless she is something more than a journalist just caring about her ‘story’
Keira knightley in any role!
November 12th, 2010 at 5:44 am
This runs the ‘Spider-Man 3 risk’ by forcing too many characters in.
If Tom Hardy is a villain, and we have Talia Al Ghul AND someone as Catwoman (who walks the line between ally and villain) I think it will be overkill
November 12th, 2010 at 5:45 am
Talia please!
No Vicky or Catwoman thank you. I heard Hush or Clayface (the first one) are possible roles for Tom Hardy, would be nice to see either of those.
As for the other female role – Harley Quinn?
November 12th, 2010 at 6:16 am
Seeing Nolan’s take on both Catwoman and Vicky Vale would be great. But they’d be big shoes to fill as both Kim Basinger and Michelle Pfeiffer were awesome. (lets not even bring up Halle Berry! haha…). I also wouldn’t mind seeing talia too.
I guess the only real solution is that Nolan is just going to have to make more than just one more Batman movie so we get to see them all!
November 12th, 2010 at 6:24 am
I´m pretty sure it´s gonna be Talia Al Ghul and Julie Madison,or Selina Kyle.
I want Talia, she HAs to be in this movie!
Crossing the fingers here!
November 12th, 2010 at 7:24 am
Where’s the love for Silver St. Cloud?!!!!
November 12th, 2010 at 8:40 am
I think maybe a Barbara Gordon role could fit in well. I think Chris Nolan could find a sharp way of getting her to the Oracle role while skipping the Batgirl-shot-by-the-Joker step.
I think the Talia move is good though, to bring it back to BB. Catwoman is a no-go, almost too kitschy for Nolan’s batworld. We all know one thing for sure though: this movie will be !@##$@!# awesome.
November 12th, 2010 at 9:19 am
This may be out of left field, but maybe the female villian could be Poison Ivy. Keeping in mind she wouldn’t be characterized as she is in the comic books (As having powers over plants and such) but she could be revamped into more of an eco terrorist with ties to Ras Ah Ghul.
November 12th, 2010 at 9:47 am
How about These
for the first Female have it be
Andrea Beaumont
Then
Catwoman
November 12th, 2010 at 9:57 am
I LOVE Selina, but atmosphere-wise I think Talia and Viki make more sense. I was hoping for Talia ever since the end of Begins. BUT, I also really want to see Catwoman redeemed after Halle Berry’s movie ruined her cinematic image. Decisions, decisions.
November 12th, 2010 at 10:14 am
Those actresses have my dark knight rising! Hi-yo!
Seriously – Talia would be freakin awesome.
November 12th, 2010 at 10:28 am
Fairuza Balk or Mila Kunis as Catwoman, or either as Talia now that I think about it.
Also, since Nolan likes to work with the same people from film to film, howzabout Ellen Page as Vicki Vale ?
November 12th, 2010 at 10:56 am
@IronChef
I’m sure the intent was probably to use Montoya instead, but since the character in the movie was morally conflicted (I wouldn’t call her a “crooked cop”), WB/DC probably wanted to make it a different character.
I agree that she was a great character and the next movie would be a good place to redeem her.
November 12th, 2010 at 11:46 am
I think we’d either see Weisz or Knightely as Talia. I doubt they would have Catwoman and Talia with the possibility of Hardy playing either a Bullock/Black Mask/Deadshot villain. It would be too much.
I’m guessing the other role of a minor love interest role, probably Silver St. Cloud or Vivki Vale (or some other love interest), going to either Blake Lively or Naomi Watts.
November 12th, 2010 at 12:17 pm
I am going to say that we’ll meet Dr. Quinzell… She’ll have been working with Joker in Arkham (we’ll see him from behind) or on ‘recording’. He’ll set her down a path of psychosis that brings out Harley Quinn. I think, however, this will be like Scarcrow was in the last two… barely more than a cameo to set her up if they decide to do a fourth film…
Talia Al Ghul will be the other character. We’ll be led to believe that she is a new love interest for Bruce, but she is actually working to revenge her father’s death. They may use Silver St. Cloud or Vicki Vale as a cover for Talia, but reveal later that she is actually Talia…
I think he’ll use Talia to wrap up the story from the BB and setup Harley to be the role he intended for Joker (anarchy that runs through the main plot causing random chaos)…
Mr. Hardy will play a mobster and will be the one that kills Grayson’s parents toward the end of the film. I figure that Chris will end his trilogy with having Bruce take in Grayson as a ward. That way he burdens the next writer with Robin, but doesn’t have to have to deal with him.
November 12th, 2010 at 4:05 pm
please… for the love of god… no catwoman.
November 12th, 2010 at 4:29 pm
What makes the new Batman movies so great is how they were able to take b list villians and turn them to a list, with the exception of the Joker, because he was always a list. Based on what the two movies have shown us so far, Talia would make sense so she could try and get revenge on what happen to her father, but I think the other female shouldn’t be a love interest, it should be another adversary, another challenge to face for Batman, so why not have it be Harley Quinn, which would be a great sub for the Joker? Let’s not forget at the end of part two, Batman chooses to be chased, well it’s not just the good guys going after him, of course the bad ones will follow in pursuit.
November 12th, 2010 at 4:33 pm
Talia, most defintely. Julie Madison, Vicki Vale or Andrea Beaumont, on the backburner. Selina Kyle? If Nolan can cause fans to forget the hot mess that was CATWOMAN, sure.
November 12th, 2010 at 4:39 pm
I realize this will sound so far fetch, but I gotta throw it out there. We all know that DC is trying to get WonderWoman on the big screen, why not have her get her start in this last Batman movie? They wouldn’t have to show her as WonderWoman right away, but it could be done in a way to show how the Big Three were established? Now by saying that, that of course would include Superman, and I know they are making a new movie again about him, but it would be nice to see it start here, and they could continue it in the new Superman movie and if WonderWoman gets the green light.
November 12th, 2010 at 7:37 pm
How about Marion Cotillard as Talia!! She was the best part of Inception and has all the sexiness to play Liam’s daughter
November 12th, 2010 at 9:50 pm
It’s Catwoman. Why settle for copy cat femme fatales or generic Bond girls when you can have the archetype herself.
November 12th, 2010 at 11:18 pm
Catwoman and Talia, all the way.
November 13th, 2010 at 8:08 am
Catwoman all the way! I don’t care who is the other generic boring love interest. Did anyone really care about Rachel Dawes? I didn’t.
And of course they can make her gritty and compelling. She’s from the school of hard knocks and she can give Bruce a run for his money. The general public don’t know or really give a hoot about Talia or Julie Madison etc etc
November 13th, 2010 at 6:13 pm
Vicky Vale was a pale imitation of Lois Lane, popular when Batman was practically a sci-fi book in the fifties. The Katie Holmes/M. Gyllenhall character was practically Julie Madison with a different name from outside of DC continuity. It would be cool if Nolan looked WITHIN that continuity for the best and most neglected of Batman’s girlfriends, Ms. Silver St. Cloud. She found out about him by mistake, and attempted, with some success, to leave him for their mutual safety. She was by far the most noble lady that Bruce ever swung with… and she was featured in the LEGENDARY Steve Englehart/Marshall Rogers/ Terry Austin DARK DETECTIVE RUN in Detective Comics in the early to mid seventies. The Bat seldom looked better, and the return of Hugo Strange after 30 years was a jolt that’s still mentioned in Bats’ continuity. SILVER ST. CLOUD… and cast Alice Eve!!!!!!!!
November 14th, 2010 at 5:10 am
Marion Cotillard for Catwoman. Nuff said.
November 14th, 2010 at 3:36 pm
It’s:
1. Talia Al Ghul: Love interest/Anti-hero &
2. Harley Quinn: villianess & executor for Joker (via Arkham Rogues)
WRITE IT DOWN (and date it–)
November 14th, 2010 at 6:45 pm
I’d love to see a like father, like daughter approach, and a nod back to Ra’s trademark smoke and mirror tactics. I’d love to see Vicki Vale be a love interest for Bruce Wayne and a thorn in Batman’s side, on a crusade to expose his identity in the name of justice — only to reveal that Vicki Vale is actually Talia, out for revenge.
