Superman Year One reads like an attempt at a movie series reboot. It's just sort of alright, but I didn't feel like I was the intended audience for it - long time Superman fan and reader here.

Grounded has been universally panned (myself included) and beyond the initial "ZOMG PANTS??" buzz, nobody is talking about WW anymore either. I'm disappointed with JMS so far at DC. And that's coming from a big fan of his Ezekiel Spider-Man run, too.

@T

That's the real question.

Superman: Year One may have piqued some interest, but it basically sounds like a comic book version of "Superman Returns." We all remember how THAT film was received.

Little wonder 300 director Zack Snyder is helming the new reboot.

I don't think the question is whether or not Superman Earth One got enough press, but whether it got GOOD press. Every article I've seen seems to treat it like a walking punchline and mocks the premise as well as Didio's quote. Didio comes off as a tool in most of the pieces.

Have to add that I am not seeing much buzz within the fannish corner of the Net, either. After the one-two punch of Grounded and WW, JMS has really lost a lot of cred with DC fans. Yes, we are not the target audience, but we are still one DC hopes will be buying, and I think we just don't trust the writer now.

Then again, when I looked at Amazon to see if there were any mainstream reviews posted - which there aren't - the book was listed as out of stock. So someone must be buying it.
