Well seems about 90% of the feed back is positive. And the interior photo’s look great. marvel Studios has made a smart move in early promotion.
Of course following the example D.C. did recently. But then again you can’t solely credit them for doing this.
Its a age old practice.

The previous Fantastic Four movies were good. Hopefully they won’t do another origin story for the remake. It doesn’t seem necessary. As for the EW Captain America thing, the pictures look cool. I think Chris Evans will show that he can do serious roles too with this movie.

I was worried when I heard they picked Chris Evans, he not a favorite of mine. But I appreciate the effort he has put in and I appreciate how humble he has been about it in interviews. So I’ll happily give this a chance. However, I do wish the star and red stripes were a little bigger on his costume. Otherwise not bad.

That was my concern, in part, when I’d heard Evans got the part. Personally, I’d have liked Aaron Eckhart or Mark Valley but what’s done is done. Maybe Evans will end up surprsing us. He certainly LOOKS the part in that picture… Maybe he’ll be better than his past roles would suggest.

I came across the old Rodney Dangerfield movie “Back To School” on TV the other night. I’d forgotten a really young Robert Downey, Jr. was in it. He got a lot better. Let’s give Evans a chance to prove himself.

I’m still not convinced Evans is “the guy,” BUT… Like others have said, this looks a lot better than I expected. It’s certainly a better look than the Green Lantern suit EW showed us a few months ago (hopefully that will get fixed up). Looking forward to seeing this next year!

I’m also guessing they’ll pattern his modern day costume on Bucky Cap’s design (ugh). For my money, I’d like to see Hitch get a run at redesiging that as well. People tend to forget the Bucky Cap suit is a lazy redesign of the rejected Alex Ross Spider-Man Movie Costume.

This looks better than I expected, but I don’t think it’s the best representation of Cap or lives up to the potential of what a Cap movie could be. Evans wasn’t the best candidate for the role- he was the best candidate at Marvel’s price point for the role. Offering so little money severely hurts a production like Cap and changes the dynamic of the Avengers Team. I’ve noticed recently that Iron Man is often depicted as the leader of the Avengers. Who can see Chris Evans barking orders at Robert Downey Jr? He’s just not a good fit for the role.

And as for the suit- Bryan Hitch has given them a good blue print for the suit on MANY occasions. I find it disappointing that they didn’t bring him into the character design process the way Favreau brought Granov in to work on the Iron Man suit. The Ab Muscle detail is anachonistic. People didn’t care about ab muscles in the 1930s. Hitches Red Spat Boot Cover was a stroke of genius. These guys have really missed an opportunity for a great, iconic costume by not including Hitch in the design process.

I’ll see the movie regardless, but hoping that the best actor for low money, a director whose feasability for success is based on a 20 year old film, and a costume that shows that they don’t “get the character” doesn’t bode well for this production.

Yes, that’s tarnish. If you’ve EVER seen deflected impact on armor by anything that burns fuel or oxygen, scoring like that will happen.

The only thing I have ANY interest in this movie right now, is how Hugo Weaving will pull off The Red Skull. I still have ill-visions of the previous Capt. America movie, with that version of the Red Skull as a facially-scarred Italian fascist pianist.

Yeah, I saw the shield “damage” right away, too (geek). And then I wondered if they were going to do the whole indestructible shield thing at all. Usually you just get one “buy” in a movie (i.e. one “unbelievable” thing they want you to just go with — it’s a standard industry rule of thumb — so you get Dr. Manhattan, but no other psychic or super-powers, you get krypton and its inhabitants with powers on earth, but no other powers, etc.) In this case you get the super-soldier serum (or whatever process makes Cap super-ish) and the shield would be “too much”

BUT then I realized the REALLY IMPORTANT THING which is that a shield is just so great an idea for a super-hero weapon. I always liked that about Cap — that he can use it offensively as well as defensively. And add to it the symbolic aspect of it being indestructible. Was that Stan and Jack that came up with the round shield? I can’t remember now.

This looks great. I am wondering how the mask will look, and I can tell they are going for an “ultimate” style appearance, but I do wonder what they will do with the “A” the wings and the ears. It seems a smart move avoiding showing that here. Especially since it shows us Evans’ face and how Steve Rogers-esque he is now.

This movie cannot possibly live up to the lofty dreams I have of a Captain America movie that becomes a cultural movement leaving teary-eyed audiences pledging allegiance in the theaters and taliban fighters hanging up their guns in response to the sheer majesty and unshakable truth of the film.

But, I hope it will be atleast as good as some recent Cap stories like Steve Rogers Super Soldier and Captain America: Patriot.

As a follow-up to my last post, it appears to simply be paint that’s missing. If you look, you can see the metal beneath the surface paint is undamaged. Considering the shield was a mistake in the first place, chances are they didn’t put a neat paint design right on it when it was being forged, so it’s not like the color can’t come off… still indestructible (unless you’re Vance Astrovik in GoTG)

Actually, it looks more like tarnished spots, say, from tracer rounds or the like. The shield can still get dirty, but if you look at it, there’s no concavity to the marks, just an outline of sorts. So it seems to make sense. Personally, I think he looks surprisingly fit for Cap, although I’d have rather seen the guy from Human Target as Cap.

He’s not right for the part — but fanboy cronies love whatever comes out of Hollywood’s comic book poop-chute. So they’ll automatically love this.

God forbid Hollywood pick whoever is right for the part, regardless of their pre-existing celebrity status. Christopher Reeve was an unknown nobody who happened to be perfect for the role of Superman, and movie history was made because of him. And the same goes for the original cast of the “Star Wars” films.

Grow up, Hollywood.
