Exchange Rates: On Delays

October 23rd, 2010
Author Russ Burlingame

Well, The Gold Exchange that hits tomorrow or Monday will cover two issues instead of one, because I’m more than a month behind. In fairness to Dan Jurgens and his fantastic Time Masters miniseries, that interview will run later today, before the next issue hits. Sorry for the many delays, but back on September 8, my fiancee and I decided that we would get married…on October 9. Needless to say, that’s thrown my schedule a bit. I always feel bad when I miss my (self-imposed) deadlines, and feel even worse now because it’s the first time in over two years of doing it that the Gold Exchange has missed a month…but if it makes you all feel better, check out the cufflinks I wore to the wedding in question! I got a surprising number of people who noticed the Sinestro Corps logo.

Congrats Russ! I’m a little surprised you didn’t get star cufflinks but nice nonetheless. Good to know about the Gold Exchange interviews to come.

Well, there’s a site out there that has Sinestro (and Green and Red Lantern) cufflinks available in silver, yellow-gold-plated and white-gold-plated. The stars for Booster would have been a little more abstract, but having gen-yoo-wine gold Sinestro cufflinks was both dorky and obvious to my friends, although her side of the aisle probably had no idea that the design meant anything, even if they noticed it (unlikely, since we got hitched in an 18th Century French mission with minimal lighting). :)

Congrats on your weddding. Those cufflinks are very cool! Kudos for you for wearing the symbol of FEAR at your own wedding hehe!

  4. Russ Burlingame Says:

I told her that it meant I was capable of inspiring great fear, but she just reminded me that she can pretty much kick my ass. ;)

Ha! I’m getting married in April and will be wearing Batman cufflinks. My best man will have Superman and my other two groomsmen will have Green Lantern & The Flash. Great minds think alike!

Congratulations, Russ. I was wondering what was taking so long between Gold Exchange columns. I don’t suppose I can begrudge a guy for taking time off for his wedding. (Well, I can. But I won’t. This time.)

  7. Laura Says:

Congratulations Russ. I’d always thought the *blue* lantern corps would make a nicely wedding-y sort of accessory :) Looking forward to the columns.

Laura, you’re very right…except that the cufflinks only came in certain ones, and so I opted for the one that looked best in gold (everything at the wedding was yellow gold, as my wife isn’t crazy about white gold/silver). Hope and love were both off the table, offered only as rings and not as cufflinks.

All Chinese bootleg stuff, completely unlicensed by DC, which is why I didn’t put a link in automatically. I never know what could get ‘Rama yelled at, so if this comment disappears it’s because someone asked us to disappear it!
