UPDATE 10/20: Well, we know what it is now. It’s a one-shot. And written by…Howard Chaykin. That’s not surprising and rather surprising, in that order.
Marvel solicitations didn’t hit on the third Tuesday of the month like they usually do — look for those sometime today, probably — but we do at least have a text list (courtesy of Diamond) of the publisher’s January product, for those especially eager fans out there who enjoy reading titles of comic books followed by numbers. (It’s surprisingly satisfying!)
Notable: Magneto #1 coming in January 2011. Now, since this is just a list, we don’t know the creative team, the plot, or if it’s an ongoing series, miniseries or one-shot. (The image above is, of course, from the cover of the nearly 20-year-old X-Men #1, and the one on the Newsarama homepage is from the Ultimate Alliance 2 video game.) But we do know that it…exists. Magneto — currently as reformed as Magneto ever really gets — has been featured heavily in Uncanny X-Men and X-Men Legacy in recent months, so it should be interesting to see where this takes the character.
Other than that, everything else that stands out at this point — Ultimate Comics Captain America, Invincible Iron Man renumbering with #500 — are all things that were announced earlier this month at New York Comic Con. But stay tuned for the actual solicitations, to learn more about Magneto and a bunch of other stuff.
