Numerous sources around the net (including Comic Book Movie) are saying that Fox wants Bruce Willis to the voice behind the ever-lovin’ blue-eyed Thing in the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot. With the Thing being completely CGI this time, I can totally hear Willis as Grimm. He has good comedic timing, as well as his bad-ass roots, so he’s covered what the Thing is all about.
I’ve also heard rumors of Paul Rudd as the new Reed Richards, but I think that’s a bit of a stretch (pun intended). Though with the movie approaching, expect more casting announcements in the months ahead.
So readers, what are your thoughts of Willis stepping into the role?

Willis would be OK at best. Paul Rudd as Reed? That might be enough to get me to stay home.

I thought they guy for the Shield had a good Thing voice and a good actor but he did not look the part as Ben Grimm and the Thing was wayyyy too small in that film and the suit looked alright at best. While I think Bruce voice would be good…It might overshadow the role as you won’t ‘hear’ Ben Grim, but rather, Bruce Willis.
My casting idea’s – Adrien Broody: Reed Richards (played a scientist is Splice, done the action and CGI thing too in Predator and Kong)
Johnny Storm – Sorry, but I thought Chris Evans did a great job in the first two films. Be nice to have one recurring role? Not with Captain America and the Avengers though I am sure.
Sue Storm – Megan Fox. Kidding! Actually, I think January Jones (Ok, I know that name has been bandied about a lot lately)……Bryce Dallas Howard looked good as a blonde, decent actress…I seriously don’t know…I think Sue could be the most difficult to cast correctly.
Ben Grimm – Don’t need a big name…Just someone with decent acting chops for the Ben Grimm parts…You could even get away with a quality voice actor for a CGI thing, as I imagine such a transformation would affect your vocal chords…
Also, leave DOOM out of the first movie. Build up to him and do right by DOOM. How awesome would it be to see the FF taking on monsters in Manhattan a la Mole Man or fending off Annilus (sp?)

We had Superman Returns and Batman Begins, designed as reboots of their respective franchises.
Now we have reboots of reboots – like this proposed FF movie and the possibility of a Spiderman reboot. Where does it all end?
If we have a reboot of a reboot of a reboot, the universe might fold in on itself.

Wrong. Anyone who thinks the Thing should be seven-foot-something doesn’t know what they’re talking about, and artists who draw him that way are making a mistake. DEFINITIVE artists, like Kirby, show him as barely taller than Reed, if at all.
Also, CGI will suck. Suit is the only way to go for the Thing.

Well I guess the majority of people at my LCS don’t know what they are talking about…Just b/c Kirby drew him that way does not mean that should be the ‘definitive’ look. Look at how Iceman changed…He went from a snowman with (ahem) boots to the look we know today. I am not saying the guy should be as big as the Hulk, but shorter than Johnny Storm? I like my Thing ‘rockier’ and yes, I know how that sounds.
I do agree about the reboot…Just make FF#3 with a new cast and move forward…Too many already!

Much as I love Paul Rudd, that doesn’t make any sense. I’ve been thinking Matthew Fox as Reed for a while. Mainly because I’ve been saying Julie Bowen as Sue since Ed was on.

Let’s cover all the bases, here. Personally, the two FF films had their moments, the best being Michael Chiklis as Ben Grimm and Chris Evans as Johnny Storm. Ioan Gruffudd as Reed was OK, yet I was never feeling Jessica Alba as Sue. Sue was lovely, but it was wrong to try to make her a sexpot. Julian McMahon was too smooth to be Doom. And as far the second film went, it was a low blow to make Galactus as a entity instead of a celestial giant. No disrespect to Tim Story, but if there is a reboot, were I Marvel and Fox, I would recruit Roland Emmerich to direct, with a decent script to boot. Just make sure Stan the Man gets his cameo in as Willie Lumpkin, provided God doesn’t call him home first.
