Awesome interview! I’m really enjoying Time Masters, and like someone else said, I see it as an extension of Dan’s run on BG. I love getting to see things from Rip’s point-of-view and he’s quickly becoming one of my favorite characters in the DCU, alongside Booster. You can tell Jurgens really cares about these characters, because it shows in his writing.

@Robt. – I’ve tried a few times to get in touch with Judd, most recently for exactly that request. I’ve never gotten a response. Frankly I think that he may have reporters he’s comfortable with. Since he’s had such spotty luck with reviewers and fans over the years, I can’t say as I would blame him wanting to control his image. I fully intend to keep pushing, although since he didn’t respond to requests about a regular sit-down I’m going to try and make it a two-time thing–once halfway through the book and then again after it’s over.

Hey Russ, just wanted to thank you for the great interviews with Dan and Marc. Any chance the Gold Exchange be chatting with Judd Winnick about Generation Lost? I’d love to hear whether he has any plans to continue with (surviving members of) the Justice League International after Gen Lost concludes. The book seems to be a hit, I cant imagine DC letting it end after only a year. Although I guess they would need to come up with a new name for the team.

loves the ammount of BG exposure, although I really hope that Booster dosent turn into D.C’s deadpool (the 20 apperences a month is overkill)

@Kevin – That occurred to me, as did the possibility of Supernova being Waverider. But with no hard evidence yet and Dan confirming last time that Daniel has a benefactor behind the scenes, I’m just working with the assumption for now.

I love the exposure Booster is getting with these 3 titles. Generation Lost is such a treat every 2 weeks, and I will be sad when the 26 issue run is over. I was sad to see Dan leave the main BG title, but Time Masters is a great extension to his run on BG. Giffen and DeMatteis are rocking the main title too, which I understand some people aren’t keen on, but I’m loving it as well.

Dan, you did a great job this issue of making Booster a sympathetic character. Truly the Greatest Hero You’ve NEver HEard Of!

I really wish this book wasn’t $3.99. It sounds like it’s awesome and I loved Dan’s run on Booster’s main title. I guess I gotta wait for the trade.

I’m surprised you even think its Daniel in the Supernova costume. I think the big reveal will be that ‘Supernova’ is Older Booster, once again up to his old tricks of helping without people realizing it.

bill – I’m not sure how long Giffen and DeMatteis will stay on BG, but Dan has been on record saying that after their run is done, he’ll be taking the book over again. The upcoming Sony project, as well as a few other things he hasn’t been able to talk about, are taking up enough of his time to make any more Time Masters after this fairly unlikely in the immediate future, but you never know; I would have thought that before they announced this!

Cæu, Clearly you’re right, and especially this month. Rip being on the cover completely independent of Booster, Hal or Superman is very telling.

Seeing the “Sword and Science” Starfire was more than an Easter egg, it was a Christmas present wrapped in one of those one-leg-one-arm-it-don’t-make-no-sense costumes! Thanks, DC for making my huge, quirky comics collection fun to dig through again! I’m going to go long box diving this week. Looking for my Starfire back issues should turn up other fun stuff. Last time, I found two copies of 1st Issue Special with Codename: Assassin!

On another note: I wanted to add my 2¢ to those who have wondered why we needed “Time Masters” when the story could probably have been handled in Booster’s own title. I believe the focus of this book is Rip. We’ll see aspects of his life and history not germane to the Booster book. Yeah, the window dressing is ‘The Search For Batman’ and we get to see little-seen corners of the DCU, but I think this book shines a light on Rip Hunter more than anything else.

Yeah, it is weird how Booster kinda snuck his way into fronting three titles a month, and 4 issues a month (since JL:GL is biweekly!)

What’s great is, he’s pulling it off!

Does this mean he’s not 2nd string anymore?

so does anyone know what happens after this book ends. ie only one booster book with giffen/dematteis making it a comedy vs a serious bg/rh- time master book? i prefer the later myself. never thought BG could lead three books a month but he seems to be doing it for now…

Yeah, at first it bugged me that it has had so little to do with Bruce Wayne so far. But then I realized – I loved the Booster Gold book when Jurgen’s did it, and can’t be bothered with it now, so I just decided to read this as an extension of Jurgen’s Booster book and gave in to the fun of it. Screw Bruce Wayne!! Go Dan Jurgens!
