Got Halloween plans? Well, you do now — October 31 is the date of the series premiere for AMC’s Frank Darabont-adapted The Walking Dead, based on Robert Kirkman’s Image Comics series of the same name, starring Andrew Lincoln as lead zombie apocalypse survivor Rick Grimes. It’ll cap off 14 days of the channel’s annual “Fearfest” programming.
AMC has also released the nearly five-minute trailer that has thus far only been seen at Comic-Con International: San Diego and in shaky videos shot from the crowd. It’s after the jump, and, wow.

This looks too good to be true.

Holy Shit !! this looks good!

I only wish it was starting before Halloween… I was hoping for middle of the month, not capping off the month of horror.

I too wish this wasn’t premiering on Halloween, mostly because I usually go out and do something on Halloween.

Huh.
Can’t be seen from my country (Brazil).

Impressive. Expected nothing less Darabont and company. Still can’t believe it will be only six eps to start, but…will definitely watch. Score another one for AMC.
Zombies in prime time….who’da thunk it?

This looks better than I expected.
Robert Kirkland is going to be mouthing-off more than ever now, LOL.
But If I go out on Halloween, you can bet this will be recording on the dvr.

This is a 28 Days Later ripoff and this was when the first issue of this comic came out.

Hieian, both were in production at about the same time on different continents. This really is one of those creative coincidences that tend to crop up every now and then.

Yes, there is a similiarity between the opening of 28 Days Later and the Walking Dead but that is it. Where the story goes from there is quite different (cast, real zombies vs infected/rage virus, etc).
I am very excited for this. Trailer looks amazing. It seems for once they are staying close to the source and augmenting it at the same time. I am even switching my satellite packages around so that I can get this!
If it is as good as the trailer, I hope this show has a long life.

And of course it can be argued that both rode off the success of Dawn of the Dead, and so on and so forth. You start whining about a zombie movie being a ripoff and every zombie movie turns out to fit the criteria. So quit looking for what’s unoriginal in the idea of zombies rising and a fella waking in the middle of it and start enjoying what IS original. For example, Walking Dead being serialized.

word is that Day of the Triffids also starts with a coma guy.

Well check the story first. It just starts that way. I was surprised myself when I first read the comic book. A bit of drama..

Wow, sorry I missed this at Comic Con. I did see their huge table with the graphic novels and swag.
It looks very cinematic. I’m so glad AMC is producing HBO and Showtime quality shows on cable. If only the networks would hold to this standard of storytelling.
I hope it lives up to it’s zombie infested promise.

Does anyone know the name of the song at the begining of this trailer?

You covered a few curious points here. I found it by using Msn and I must confess that I already subscribed to your blog site, it’s very fine
