OK, let’s get this out of the way — calling this a “teaser trailer” is probably stretching it. The movie is still two years away, it hasn’t started filming, and we only got official confirmation of the main cast and director (Joss Whedon!) a week and a half ago at Comic-Con.
That having been said — this is 41 seconds of Samuel L. Jackson narrating over an animated logo. And it may very well be 41 of the most exciting, scintillating, potentially pants-wettening seconds of your life. Just try not to squeal with delight when the movie Nick Fury says things like “a day unlike any other” and “Earth’s mightiest heroes.” And if you’re not totally stoked by the time you get to view the “A” logo in full about 24 seconds in, well, we’re revoking Quinjet access.
First shown late last month at Comic-Con International: San Diego, this actually surfaced on the official site of Imaginary Forces, the company that produced the clip. It’s not there anymore, so it might not last anywhere long. Watch now, duh.

Umm Cool?
August 4th, 2010 at 6:41 pm
That wasn’t even a teaser. That was…obviously not meant for comic fans
August 4th, 2010 at 6:51 pm
For some reason changing hero to “superhero” ruins it for me. Makes it seem silly. Totally takes me out of the moment.
August 4th, 2010 at 6:54 pm
Oh please. What a waste of 42 seconds.
Go watch the DCU online gaming one instead.
August 4th, 2010 at 7:12 pm
that was really lame
but very funny
August 4th, 2010 at 7:55 pm
teaser? that’s bullsh*t
August 4th, 2010 at 8:02 pm
It teased, thus it was a teaser. Quit being negative bitchy ass-hats, please.
August 4th, 2010 at 9:11 pm
Very cool teaser! I enjoyed it.
As UncleHappy commented…”It teased, thus it was a teaser.” I agree…it’s a teaser, nothing more/nothing less. IMO, it served its purpose and accomplished its goal, which more-than-likely was simply to generate a positive, preliminary buzz pertaining to the 2012 movie.
Creatively speaking, Mr. Jackson’s voice sounds pretty decent, but I think it should be edited/lowered a tab bit deeper (with more bass, less trebble). Also, I agree with poster Adam Weissman…instead of Jackson/Fury saying the word “Superhero,” use another term or just use the word “hero” again. The term “Superhero” spoken aloud sounds a little corny, but if it has to be used (for lack of a better term)…then I suppose it will have to do.
On a personal note, I can’t wait to hear Cap yell “Avengers…Assemble” in the movie. (And in order to reduce the “Power Ranger, corniness effect,” I think there should be a 1-second pause between the two words, with the emphasis placed on the word “Assemble,” not Avengers. (Just my opinion).
Other than that…I love the look of the lettering, it looks great! It’s very faithful to what we’ve come to appreciate in the comics.
So far, so good Marvel Studios.

I know we all want to start seeing some footage of this film at some point, but don’t just throw-up any old thing that just hints to it. We ain’t THAT desperate!
August 4th, 2010 at 9:58 pm
Look at it this way — how impossible did an Avengers movie seem 20 years ago? 10 years ago? Even five years ago? And now it’s really happening, and they got Joss Whedon to direct? Then imagine seeing this teaser in a room full of 6,500 other fans screaming their heads off?
Obviously this isn’t a ton to go on, but they didn’t have to use the recognizable logo, they didn’t have to use “a day unlike any other,” but they did. Why not get excited?
August 5th, 2010 at 3:57 am
I totally agree with Adam Weissman’s comment above.
August 5th, 2010 at 4:17 am
I also agree with Adam Weissman’s comment. They should’ve used the term ‘hero’, not ‘superhero’. It really did take me out of the moment.
August 5th, 2010 at 4:45 am
I just want to say, for the record, that I’ve never been taken out of any moment, ever. (Which may mean I’ve never been *in* a moment?)
That said, the whole point was that they were quoting a recognizable bit of comic-book gobbledygook for a comic-book audience. It’d be like quoting the Statue of Liberty inscription, but changing around a few words to “punch it up.”
“Give us your poor, your tired, your huddled masses, yearning to be awesome.”
Wait, no. In retrospect, that would be better.
August 5th, 2010 at 8:36 am
Very cool. Got me pumped. But he should’ve ended it by saying “and on that day, the Avengers Assembled!”
August 5th, 2010 at 8:39 am
I’m kinda glad they used the word superhero, it’s about time these films started ‘fessing up to what they are.
August 5th, 2010 at 9:26 am
I agree with JS… The DCU Online trailer was light years better than this.
“Nothing to see here, move along citizen”. :-\
August 5th, 2010 at 9:43 am
What does the DCU online trailer have to do with anything? Go you fangirls are idiots. This is a movie, not a video game…..tools.
August 5th, 2010 at 10:52 am
I’m sorry, but a real teaser actually gives you a little something, and of course, leaves you wanting more.
This was nothing more than a Voice-over and a Title Font.
August 5th, 2010 at 11:05 am
It’s already gone
August 5th, 2010 at 12:13 pm
What’s so exciting about hearing Jackson talk about superheroes?
August 6th, 2010 at 11:59 pm
“On that day, The Avengers were born.” “Born?” Really, that’s what they went with. It might just be me picking at a small thing, but that just sounds wrong. Shouldn’t it read:
On that day, The Avengers ASSEMBLED!!!
August 8th, 2010 at 7:59 pm
Wonderer,
You’re asking a reasonable question and if I may, I’d like to [politely] respond to it.
In order for your declaration to be accurate “On that day, The Avengers ASSEMBLED,” each member would already have had to been an Avenger individually, prior to coming together. In other words, your statement would be accurate if it read “On that day, Heroes Assembled,” because they were all heroes individually prior to coming together, subsequently forming The Avengers. Neither hero was known as an Avenger prior to forming the group, so the statement “On that day, The Avengers ASSEMBLED” is inaccurate.
Therefore, the phrase, “On that day, The Avengers were born” is the correct statement.
If The Avengers, the West Coast Avengers, New Avengers and Secret Avengers came together to fight a villain, then your statement would be correct, because in [that] example, 4 branches of Avengers came together…thereby making your point/statement accurate…The Avengers ASSEMBLED.
August 12th, 2010 at 5:25 pm
The original phrasing: “There came a day, unlike any other, when Earth’s Mightiest Heroes found themselves united against a common threat. On that day, the Avengers were born — to fight the foes no single hero could withstand.”
Sam Jackson’s phrasing: “There came a day, unlike any other, when Earth’s Mightiest Heroes found themselves united against a common threat to fight the foes no single superhero could withstand.. On that day, the Avengers were born.”
How can anyone quibble over a sentence swap and the word hero being changed to superhero? Isn’t this a superhero movie?
I, for one, love the fact they put it out. It feels more like the movie is impending and REAL, instead of just being out of reach.
I love it, and look forward to an actual trailer.
