Comic-Con International: San Diego may be over for another year, but that doesn’t stop major comic book-related movie news from coming in, like these four Green Lantern character posters. Featuring Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan, Blake Lively as Carol Ferris, Peter Sarsgaard as Hector Hammond and our very first glimpse of Mark Strong as Sinestro, looking faithfully Sinestro-like — plus the famous oath of the Green Lantern Corps — these hit online today.
The DC Comics adaptation is scheduled to hit screens on June 17, 2011. Check out all of the posters after the jump.

sinestro look good, and I like the little yellow glim in hector’s poster
July 26th, 2010 at 7:23 pm
amazing. So happy with this
July 26th, 2010 at 7:26 pm
Wow!!! Such great teaser posters! Finally WB and DC are merging into a movie force to be reconed with. Props to the publicity dept!
July 26th, 2010 at 7:29 pm
Why Hal looks like he doesn’t like to have his pictures taken? Hal should be grinning wide

The 2011 logo is cool with the lantern chest symbol as the 0.
July 26th, 2010 at 8:03 pm
The 2011 logo is indeed cool. But I’m severely underwhelmed, especially with how Sinestro looks.
July 26th, 2010 at 8:12 pm
Digging it!
July 26th, 2010 at 8:15 pm
The scars on Sinestro’s face look cool.
July 26th, 2010 at 8:23 pm
Even though I do not like Live Action comic book movies these look cool
July 26th, 2010 at 8:24 pm
The vein on Hector’s nose……….?
July 26th, 2010 at 8:27 pm
@Zenstrive:
I agree though Ryan Reynolds doesn’t exactly strike me as the fearless type either…
July 26th, 2010 at 8:43 pm
Cool teaser posters!
I like them a lot.
The only 2 things I would have done differently…
1. Display the “other” side of each character’s face so that their faces would fit the outer curve of the lantern outline that much better. In other words, I would switch Ryan’s and Carol’s face placements, within the lantern outline (but with Ryan’s poster remaining the 1st in line) and Sinestro’s and Hector’s faces would switch places as well, but with Sinestro’s poster remaining the 3rd in line, Hector keeping the number 4 spot respectively.
2. Secondly, I would have Ryan/Hal wearing the mask. That would be awesome.
Minor suggestions, because overall…I’m impressed with what has been presented thus far.
I’m excited!
July 26th, 2010 at 8:58 pm
“WB and DC a force to be reckoned with”??? Hahahahahahaha! That’s the funniest joke ever!!! They aren’t even on the map………..HILARIOUS………when they get to be a threat in publishing maybe they’ll have enough fans to warrant their movies. When you can’t even sell stories for ALL of your titles without gimmicks……yeah……..you’re no threat AT ALL….
July 26th, 2010 at 9:09 pm
My mistake…I explained myself incorrectly.
All that needs to be done is to just move Ryan’s face more toward the center (of the lantern) to display the other side of his face, move Carol’s face more toward the center to display the other side of her face and move Sinestro’s and Hector’s faces in the same manner respectively.
That’s what I meant to explain.
Also…(just for the record) I think Ryan’s face looks cool in his poster. He’s going to make an awesome Hal Jordan/Green Lantern.

Thunder = Schmuck

July 26th, 2010 at 10:02 pm
Gimmicks sell books. has been that way for at least 20 years. And Marvel is just as guilty if not more so.
I love the Marvel vs DC pissing match that goes on in the minds of fans. It’s all a bunch of garbage of course, but that’s never stopped the majority of fans from believing in it.
July 26th, 2010 at 10:28 pm
Now if only the ring the main character wears actually resembled the official logo…
July 26th, 2010 at 10:36 pm
@George:
You’re right, of course. Both Marvel and DC do a lot of crap! lol.
July 26th, 2010 at 11:55 pm
Must some idiot always bring in who’s got a bigger %(%($?
Posters look great. I’m still very worried they’re not introducing too many concepts at once for non comic readers to really get into. I’ve wanted this movie since I was 7 years old. I’m more nervous about this than when I proposed
July 27th, 2010 at 1:09 am
strathaar – me too. I’m confident that with Geoff Johns involved, this will be faithful enough to the comics.
And they’ve also got Martin Campbell directing, and Mark Strong as Sinestro. Lots of quality people involved. Fingers crossed.
I mean…urrrr….rings raised?
July 27th, 2010 at 1:40 am
Posters look cool. Don’t knowwhat the sh**storm over the uniforms about. It shouldlook intergalactic not like Asam Wests tights. Thedon’t want Superman Returnson their handswith the money being spent. Besides? The costume is an extension of the rings power so it wouldn’t necessarily look like you actually put it on.

“comic_dude Says:
@Flinstone:
The truth hurts, eh?!!!”
The only painful thing round here is having to wade through inane comments like yours and Thunders. We’ve all heard that scratched record – get something new!
July 27th, 2010 at 2:02 am
@Flinstone:
I’ll let you find out the hard way then. Just don’t say you weren’t warned….
July 27th, 2010 at 6:12 am
What I find interesting in the Hammond poster is the hint of Parallax yellow, since Johns said Parallax would be in the movie.
July 27th, 2010 at 7:09 am
If you’de have told me a couple of months ago I would be looking forward to a GL movie more than the Thor movie I would have gone to Hollywood and punched Kenneth Branagh.
July 27th, 2010 at 7:22 am
Maybe the choice for that pose by Reynolds was a mistake because Hal Jordan, no matter who wrote him, was and is a cocky son-of-a, test pilot cocky and loving being a GL. In the dictionary, his photo is the definition of Confidence. Like Cooke wrote him in New Frontier or how Johns has written him. That Reynolds shot doesn’t say that at all.
July 27th, 2010 at 7:27 am
All hail Green Venom…..oops i mean Green Lantern….i think i smell Jonah Hex all over again.
Can we talk about something that is actually going to be good like Thor and Captain America
July 27th, 2010 at 7:32 am
@Grendel_515:
Or perhaps it is “orange” and Hammond will somehow cross paths with the Orange Lantern, Larfleeze?? :-/
July 27th, 2010 at 7:39 am
one thing’s forsure: DC fans will not go over to bash the Marvel site when their movies come out. I really do not understand why most of the marvel fans behave like dou.ch.bags with everything DC related. If you do not like it do not come in this site!
On the other hand, about how Hal looks in the poster: first it is his origin as GL so he gets the cocky attitude once he masters the ring.
July 27th, 2010 at 7:42 am
Israel…..what are you smoking, DC fangirls go over and bash the superior Marvel movies all the time
July 27th, 2010 at 7:58 am
All of this “mine is bigger than yours” stuff is sad. Hope the powers that be keep note of who starts this kind of stuff.
Sad.
July 27th, 2010 at 8:28 am
I’ve been a GL fan my entire life and I’m really looking forward to this. I see no need to pick apart the poster because it’s made by designers and not the writer, director or actors. That’s like saying you hate the cereal because you don’t like the picture on the box. And I actually like the poster. It’s gives just enough the whet my whistle. I’m also looking forward to Thor, Captain America and Scott Pilgrim. I’m not a Marvel/DC fan. I’m a comics fan. And I really enjoy any attempt to bring these characters to life. Even that crappy FF movie from the 90s!

reminds me of the 5 Gum package design:
http://www.rickthompsondesign.com/MOVIE_Wrigley5Gum_preview.htm
I still think this movie is going to be awesome, as well as the Marvel movies coming out.
July 27th, 2010 at 9:41 am
i want a set.
July 27th, 2010 at 10:57 am
Can’t we all just get along?
I’m a bigger DC comic fan than Marvel comic fan, but I’m a bigger Marvel movie fan than DC movie fan (except the Dark Knight, best comic movie around). Hopefully Green Lantern is another movie in that vein (trust Geoff Johns, he knows what he’s doing).
I love both companies and their super-hero properties. Good movies mean more readers, more readers means we get more of what we love…comics.
Competition is a good thing, it breeds creativity.
July 27th, 2010 at 11:03 am
Thunder….
“when they get to be a threat in publishing maybe they’ll have enough fans to warrant their movies.”
Perhaps you were living under a rock when a little movie called The Dark Knight was released. Seeing you were I guess I’ll be the one to tell you, that movie, which featured a character from DC you might’ve heard of called Batman made a KILLING at the box office, and made a KILLING when it was released on DVD. Wow, what a tool you are.
July 27th, 2010 at 11:56 am
Frank how did Jonah Hex do? He is a DC character too
July 27th, 2010 at 2:00 pm
I think we can all agree to disagree, but Marvel isn’t batting 1.000 either (just think of Ghost Rider, Daredevil, Fantastic Four).
All movie studios make clunkers, and they also make great films, too.
Can we just stop the inane bickering and just all hope that this film does great, so Marvel can try to “one-up” DC, then DC can come back again, ad nauseum.
This is GOOD for EVERYONE, not just small-minded Marvel Zombies or DC Fanatics.
Good Day
July 27th, 2010 at 3:22 pm
Ignore the Marvel Girls. They know GL will overshadow Cap or Thor (whoever’s going up against him) come 2011. It’ll be a repeat of The Dark Knight walking the dog on Iron Man.
July 27th, 2010 at 3:25 pm
I hope ryan reynolds can pull it off.I’m cautiously optimistic.

@ Andrew: And Marvel’s continued attempts to have successful Punisher movie? Or the need to reboot Hulk? Haven’t heard much clamoring for a Daredevil sequel… We can all play this silly game over and over. Marvel’s certainly been ahead of the curve, but they’ve had their failures and disappointments too.
Anyhow, look… While DC/WB’s only bonafide success of recent years has been the two Nolan Bat-movies, they still got a (incredibly disappointing) Superman movie made and they did the near-ipossible in getting Watchmen on the big screen. Neither one was a success exactly, but I wouldn’t call either one a colossal failure (financially, I mean)either. There was also V For Vendetta, which I know not everyone loved but it did moderately well given that it wasn’t a well-known property, it was rated R, and pretty controversial too. Personally, I loved that movie.
If anything, DC’s had much better luck than Marvel on the small screen. The various Timm-verse shows, the recent DCAU DVD movies (I haven’t liked them much myself, but they keep making them), and Smallville’s had a ridiculously long run. I haven’t really liked ANY of Marvel’s animated offerings, they really haven’t been nearly as successful as DC’s, generally, and their last live action TV show was the Hulk way back when.
So let’s just see what happens… I was skeptical about GL, but the more I see the more excited I’m getting for it (Johns being involved is a plus). Nolan’s going to be overseeing the Superman reboot, so I think that’s full of “win” too, plus we know that that Nolan’s third Batman starts filming next year.
Likewise, I’m cautiously optimistic about Thor, Cap (not sure about Evans, but I’ll give him a shot) and The Avengers. Marvel’s going to have a harder time, making all those properties tie together (and yet another Bruce Banner? Urgh…), but I hope it’s great. Who cares about Marvel vs. DC? I just want good movies to enjoy.

Mark said: “And I really enjoy any attempt to bring these characters to life. Even that crappy FF movie from the 90s!”
While I appreciate what you’re saying, Mark, it’s OK to have more discriminating taste than THAT.
July 28th, 2010 at 8:53 am
So hope this movie flops and by the pics released so far it could possibly happen.
July 28th, 2010 at 10:29 am
Andrew,
you’re right but for that idiot to say NONE of the DC movies did well? Come on? Are you serious about that? Yeah Jonah hex tanked but he was saying that every DC flick tanked? It’s just ridculous. Hell I’m more of a Marvel fan, but to make stupid coments like Thunder did…he just came off soundling like an idiot.
July 28th, 2010 at 10:30 am
Andrew P.S.
Superman Returns didn’t so all that hot either. Hell Watchmen did better, and that was terrible. Just incase you decide to throw thos in my face as well.
July 28th, 2010 at 1:24 pm
‘stache-tastic!
July 28th, 2010 at 5:03 pm
Why would someone want the movie to be bad or flop? I don’t get that… Sure, it could end up being bad, or bombing, or both. But why wish for that? Even if you’re a Marvel zombie, isn’t having more quality, successful comic book films a good thing for the overall health of comic books and comic related films?
Not that there isn’t a saturation point for this stuff… In fact, we may have reached it already. Still, I’d prefer studios, if they going to make these movies, look at what made the Nolan Batman movies, the first Iron Man, and even the first two Spidey movies so well loved and use those as guideposts.
July 29th, 2010 at 2:10 am
I have the feeling that this movie is gonna blow.
I mean the costume looks stupid.
July 29th, 2010 at 2:31 am
I wonder if you get a cheap plastic ring for free when you go see the movie
July 29th, 2010 at 3:39 am
Where’s the mask
